Fred Gray and Pern Voorhies were at the hub Monday. M. C. Clark, of Kellogg, was recently married to a Mrs, Niblo. Chas.

McKinney, of Red Bud, made us a substantial call last week. C. B. Downing has renewed his sub scription to this great and only. J.

H. Willis, of Red Bud, has added his name to our rapidly growing list. J. H. Bullen, the enterprising lumber man, of Winfield, was here Tuesday.

J. W. Sargent, a denizen of the Wal nut valley, favored us with a call last Saturday. U. S.

June and Pern Voorhies went to Winfield Wednesday on legal business. C. 0. Simpson left Monday for Troy, N. Y.

We were all sorry to see Clark go, the girls especially. J. T. Dale went to Dodge City this week and will endeavor to put Udall flour on the market at that place. W.

McQuown and W. C. Ritchie left Monday for Winfield, where they will work at their trade carpentering. Mrs. Jo.

Mooso, of Winfield, was here the first of the week attending the sickbed of her sister, Mrs. Al. Roberts. The state election held in Ohio Tues day resulted in favor of the republican party. Foraker being elected for governor.

J. Olmstead, Kellogg's artistic tinner, has made himself solid with the Sentinel by depositing some collateral in our treasury. Frank K. Scnseney and wife left Wednesday evening for Topeka, where they Will make their future home. May joy attend them.

Capt. J. Douglas, of Prairie Grove, passed through the city one day last week enroute for the Arkansas river for sand to use at his fine farm. Rev. J.

S. Tull and wife, and Chas. Hodgson went to Arkansas City Wednesday to attend the district conference of the M. E. Church.

One of the outbuildings attached to Abbott's corner building was moved out pu the farm the first of the week Tom Boyles did the moving. F. M. Latham and wife are visiting friends in Missouri this week. J.

Beck is holding the fort at the lumber yard during Marion's absence. Mrs. E. R. Morse is visiting friends in Wilson county, this state.

Siverd, the irrepressible, of Winfield, looked in on us Wednes day; As is a Usual thing with his visits here, he returned home having plenty of company. A grand republican rally will be held at Udall on Thursday, Oct. 29, 1885. Hon. F.

S. Jennings and A. H. Limerick will address the people in the even ing. Everybody invited to be present.

Sumner Butler, of Fowler, is here this week visiting old friends and acquaintances. Mr. B. was formerly a resident of this county, and his many old friends here are glad to welcome him back among them. Mrs.

Al. Roberts was taken to Win field Wednesday and has been placed under the care of Dr. Emerson, of that place. Mrs 11. was so weak that she was carried aboard the cars in a chair We hope soon to hear that she is speed ily recovering.

Ed. P. Ingle, of Modena, 111., a son of our stone quarry man, Geo, Ingle, is here and will doubtless make southern Kansas his future home. In company with his father he made us a pleasant call Mondav afternoon. He is well pleased with Udall and vicinity.

Messrs Bonafield and Thrap, of Ohio, now located on a farm near Prairie Grove, were in the city Tuesday, just in from a hunting trip; and had tlieir pictures taken, with their dogs and hunting outfit, at Hawley'S gallery. They are delighted with southern Kansas. G. W. Weeks, of Udall, the candidate for surveyor on the democratic ticket is a man well qualified for the position.

Capt. Haight has filled the office for a long time an4 it is certainly time he should be relieved. Mr. Weeks is thoroughly able, competent and worthy. He is strongly indorsed by the people of Udall, and they are a unit in pronouncing him a fit man for the position.

If elected we can assure our readers that Mr. Weeks will fill the position satisfactorily and efficiently. What more can the people of Cowley desire. ---Winfield Telegram. All those who go west are fiot hunting for homesteads.

There are twenty-three candidates for office m-Finney county. ing. We are now enjoying beautiful Indian summer weather. See the name of Philip Stout in our 'Notice to Hunters." Ed. Roberts and bride have gone to housekeeping in the house just south of the Christian church.

Philip Stout has our thanks for a very fine large pear, grown on his nice farm a few miles southwest of Udall. This office executed some neat and tasty bill-heads and buisness cards last Saturday for the Udall Milling Co. The middle room in Martin's block is being used by the Mill Company as a storage room for bran and mill feed. Matt. McCollister's wife has been very sick for the past three weeks.

We hope soon to hear that she is convalescent. An interesting revival meeting is being conducted this week at the Congre gational church under the charge of Rev. S. P. Broad.

State Veterinarian A. A. Holcombe reports, that Detween thirty and forty counties in Kansas are now infected with hog cholera. N. W.

Chrisjohn finds that his fine dray is much more convenient for hauling freight than was the wagon which he formerly used. A sack of corn meal left standing in front of Gray Bros, store Monday night was taken in out of the cold by some thoughtful passer-by. B. F. Runyan will have a public sale at his place three miles sontheast of Udall, on Thursday, 22.

Loutrel, traveling agent for the Wichita Eagle, made us an agreeable call last week Friday. The Eagle is rapidly growing in favor here, and is building up a good subscription list among our business men. The band had a business meeting Mon day night. A. officials al maintain that the road is a sure go. Last Saiurday a little son of Martin Kentrier, while out with his brothers in the cornfield, was bitten by a rattle snake. The snake struck him on the ankle, and the leg began to swell at once. Dr.

Cox was called to attend the little sufferer, and at this writing the boy is rapidly recovering.
