One of the visiting club caught a ball on his cheek, which made a very painful bruise. The dance for that evening was postponed to Tuesday night of this week, owing to the inclemency of the weather. We have one of the best jokes of the season on our genial friend, Jas. II. Hildebrand, but it is a little too rich to tell. M. Shiblom had a tumor cut from his head this week by Dr.

Banta. He is getting along nicely since the operation. Wanted to know: What it was that Charlie Roberts got up his coat-sleeve yesterday that made him shed that garment so quickly. Brady Brady have fixed up the driveway to their elevator in good shape, so that loaded wagons rcan be easily taken up the assent. A. road, and that all who have tools are put to work. They feel greatly elated at the begining of this enterprise and predict that inside of sixty days property in Udall will double in value. So we boom. M.

S. Williams was arrested and taken to Winfield last week Thursday afternoon by Capt. H. H. Siverd on a complaint lodged against him by a girl that has been raised in his family, who claims that he had misused her.

Mr. W. was released on his own recognizance and the trial set for Aug. 18th. The case will likely be dismissed for lack of cause'and evidence.

Every one wanting any work done in the photographic line shonld make it a point to call on R. O. HaWley, proprietor of our photograph gallery. Assisted by Mr. Rainey he is turning out work that would be creditable to an operator in a much larger place.

We hav5 been in the photographic business, and know a good picture when we see it, and have no hesitancy in recommending Mr. Hawley and his work to the public. County Attorney Henry E. Asp passed up the road Tuesday, evening, and stated to a Sentinel reporter, who questioned him concerning the D. M.

A. road, that he had not heard a whisper but that the road would pass through Udall; that he felt confident that we would get the road. That great corporations move very slow, and could not be expected to build a road in a day, especially when they had two years in which to do it. The D. M.

A. surveying corps are busy this Week in FairvieW township making a neW survey. The fiew line Will be a mile or tWO north of their previous survey. This change is made in order to comply with the stipulations concerning the location of a depot in that toWnship. Moffett had the misfortune to dislocate his shoulder last Monday. He was decending a ladder that was placed against his house, when his foot slipped, throwing his weight suddenly on his left shoulder, with the above re: suit. Drs. G. E.

We understand that Mrs. D. C. Green and two children will leave next Wednesday on a visit to friends in Mich. Goo.

R. Holmes has purchased G. W. Wheeler's blacksmith shop. G.

W. is now working by the day for Mr. H. John T. Hale, Mulvane's affable and popular and lightning rod agent made us a pleasant call, Tuesday.

Phelps left fpv Wichita Wednesday, where he will make his future home. We regret to have Mr. P. and family leave this city. Fred Gray, of Freesoil, Harry and George's brother, is here, and can now be found measuring out calico and onions in their fine establishment.

P. L. Wells, of Manson, Iowa, sends the wherewithal by James Glover for the Sentinel for four months. He adopts this method to post himself concerning ''Sunny Kansas." Ed. Grant, of the Blue, one of our most enterprising and industrious farmer boys, has renewed his subscription to this paper.

Ed, by the way, is a general favorite with the girls. Tommie Weaver, of Chanute, Mrs. J. E. Coulter's brother, is here, and his beaming countenance can now be seen behind the counter of Coulter, the Cash Grocer's, store.

He has come to stay. Ed. Gatlin and Prof. Weeks made Winfield a visit Monday. Prof.

Weeks will teach one of the departments of our school this Winter. He will also likely act as book-keeper for the milling company, as soon as the mill gets started in business. Al. Roberts has moved his family ttp from Winfield, and will now give the meat market his personal attention. Al.

is a musician, as well as hi3 brother and will likely become a member of our Sentinel Band. Geo. Fowlor, of Fowler, Was seen on bur streets Tuesday; Mr: was formerly a Cowley county man; and is much pleased and surprised at the rapid growth made by Udall during the past two years. So we boom. G.
