The countrv populution is made up principally of Swedes and Bohemians, who are thrifty farmers. Tho city is located on tho Blue Valley about nine miles north of and eight miles south of Irving.

Beck-man tiled written statement that they had made a "forinnl demand for admittance Into the treasury for the purpose of making the regular quarterly examination, whereupon the treasurer refused to allow them admission into the treasury for such purpose." Following document was introduced by Comnilssloiier Huntress aud adopted by the board Wherkas, The probate judge of Riley county, and his assistants have filed their report for the present nuarter wherein they say that they are unable to make the usual examination because of being refused tried to pull him off tlw cart. Gray stopped the horse and got dowu. He threw Evans coat over his head, and threw him to the ground, then he started to Kt on the cart. Evans arose, seised two stones and ran alter Gray, who dodged him around the cart and horse three times when Evans turned in the opposite direction and threw one of the atones, striking Gray on the head making a deep scalp wound. Grey then turned on him with a drawn pen-knife and made one slash at Evans laying open the abdomen.

Evans died alter two hours suffering. Gray gave him sell up to the constable who took him to Manhattan. Gray was released to attend the coroners Inquest which was held Monday afternoon. dating to all. E.
