Bedford Walker lost Wis only horse one day last week. Wm. Jones, of Fancy Creek, is erecting 3 frame house. Moily Miles, of Fancy ('reek, has gone 10 Indiana on a visit. There is a flourishing lyceum, which holds a meeting each week, at the Pleasant Ridge school house near the school branch.

A sabbath school and weekly prayer meeting, besides preaching occasionally, is held at the same place. Mrs Frances Spurrier, mother of R. P. Spurrier, has returned from Iowa, where she has been visiting for a couple of months. Her grandson, Mr.

Henry Spurrier, who spent the summer of 1879 in Kansas but went to his home in Iowa last fall, came home with her. The members of the Star Literary Association met at the Star school house last week, and re-organized for work by electing S. A. Byarlay president; D. C.

Edgerton, vice-president; Isaac Moon, treasurer; G. M. Mayes, secretary and John Byarlay assistant secretary. The association will meet each Friday night. Every body invited to attend.

Randolph, Oct. 9th: A tramp entered the Heller school house, three miles north west of here, last night and took therefrom some of the teacher's books and brought them to town this morning and tried to sell them, but they had the teacher's naine written in them; so the man was arrested and brought before the justice who fined him ten dollars, and sent him to the county jail.
