Under the above heading the Herald attempts to explain how the county printing was let last week, but mistakes the facts when it asserts that the Graphic wanted the county commissioners to furnish paper for a certain portion of the job printing. If George Rogers is honest he will correct that statement. The truth is as follows: The county board decided to let tho county printing to the lowest bidder, barring all other newspaper publishers in the county from bidding, except those in this city. The publishers of this city representing the Graphic, the Journal and the Herald, respectively, fded bids with the eountv clerk, and each bid for the lo-al i printing, such as road notices, treasur- er's quarterly statement, and similar legal notices required bylaw to be published in a newspaper, was the same ONE CENT. The printing of blanks, for the county, was to be let at so much per thousand, and twelve items were enumerated in each bid.

The sum for each bidder showed respectively as follows: Graphic, 13 items, $53 23 Herald, do 33 50 Journai. do 32 33 Jow, in the twelve items given in each list is a full size sheet, personal property statement blank, printed on both sides, of which about ten or twelve thousand are required each year, The GRAPnic bid to furnish ten thousand personal property statement blanks "at cost of material," amounting to S15.00, which added to its bid of 855.25, makes the- sum of $70.25. The Herald's bid including the same blank, was 83.00 per thousand, which it will get. amounting to 830.00. which added toils bid makes its total $83.50.

Whitman. ElBewhere we publish an item from the Carbondalian in relation to granting a marriage license to a man who already had a wife, whom, it is said, is in an insane asylum. Our contemporary is inclined to criticise the judge. It seems to us that tbe presumption is that Mr. Lofty was not cognizant of the fact and it would not be expected that he would make an investigating committee of himself unless he had some suspicion or evidence that appli -cants for marrige license are attempting to eousumate -a polygamous marriage.
