MARRitD. In Kansas City, Sept. 30th, Mr. Ed Drake and Miss Maggie Davidson. Mr.

Drake Is a son of Contractor S. E. Drake, and was In the Philippine war as a member of the fighting 20th Kansas. In Pittsburg, by Key. Conlen, Mr.

John Devone and Miss Delia Gallagher, both of this city. They have a neat home on East Sixteenth street, and a wedding dinner whs served In the new home. It Is very fashion able In Pittsburg to have a nice lit tie residence all ready and Mr. De-vine followed the fashion. to them, DIED.

In Frontenac, September 26th, 1901 of heart failure, the Infant child of Mr. Joseph Barker. In Cornell, Sept. 27th, of Injuries Death of John Hale. Died, Sept.

29th, 1901, at the family residence, 201 West Third street, at 3:15 p. John Hale, aged 69 years. Funeral was held at 1 p. m. Oct.

1st, from the family residence. John Hale was born in London, Canada, In the year 1832 and came to the United States in 1871. He was one of the oldest residents In Pittsburg, having come here in September of 1880, Just 21 years ago, dying In the same month he came to Pittsburg. The deceased leaves a wife and six children, W. F.

Hale, Lake-view, Kansas; Dr. Mary McKlnstery, Mercer, Edward Hale, Iola, Jessie Wood, Jopllu; F. J. Hale, Wichita, and Mrs. Alice Blackman, of this city, He worked on the Lanyon zinc works for years, and was a quiet and honorable citizen.

Republican Convention. The Republican convention met in this city today, nominated VV. H. Braden for commissioner; and high school trustees as follows: Wm 11 May, King, of 1st district; Braley, and A Roberts ol the 2d district; Gregg and Hain-er, of the third district. The convention had about thirty negro delegates on the floor.

LOCAL CHAT. The city council met last night, -A few loads of second crop hay have appeared on the local market. The Hood Sons Implement House of this city have the best line of wagons and buggies In the county. See their Hue before buying. Dr.

Robt. Gllmour, secretary-treasurer of the United Mlue Workers, once in a while takes a few hours' layoff. He was called home last week on account of the Illness of a two year old boy, who has been bothered with dysentery. He was considerably alarmed at his condition on the 26th. Carl Becker, the gentleman who teaches voice culture, has concluded that he will remain In the city.

He has been encouragad and will open a musical conservatory. W. L. Miller; of Mulberry Grove, has recently beeu Injured. He got too near a steam shovel which was at work In the large strip pits operated by his company.

He Is well known over the county. Crawley Murphy, two hustlers of Weir City, have bought out the Ice business of the Nichols Bros. They are practical men and come well recommended. They will also deal in coal. A.

C. Gallagher, of Chlcopee, who was laid up with a sprained back, Is gettlug so that he can walk about. He had quite a serious In-Jury. VV. T.

Wright, of Kirk wood, made the most polished and concise nominating speech In the Peoples Party convention Monday. He Is a very deliberate and pleasant speaker. Frank White, of Fleming shot and killed Bob Campbell Oct. 1st. The row was over bad whiskey and the assailants were two colored toughs.

In Fleming Sept. 20, Mrs. J. M. Bird, aged 35 years.

In Glrard, Oct. 1st, Mrs. J. H. Richmond, aged 79 years.

She was the mother of Mrs. E. E. Decker, of Gl rard, and a woman of many good qualities of head and heart. During the last 5 years she has been an Invalid and confined to her home: Her husband died about one year ago.

During the last of the seventies she came from New Jersey to Crawford township with her husband and children, and was well and favorably known by a large circle of friends. She was a devout and life long member of the Episcopal church, and lived the life she professed, always kind, patient and neighborly. She will be remembered by many outside the family circle. For many years she has made her home with her daughterand has been cared for patiently and tenderly. Rev.

J. C. Ferrler, of this city, conducted the last sad rites of the church and the body was interred In the Glrard cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. TnChtcopee Sept. 30th, the Infant son of Mr.

Peel was appointed and confirmed. He Is a good man, The city clerk? report for the quarter shows receipts of 1,339 50 as against (826 for any quarter under the old administration. It is wonderful how the license funds have tumbled Into the treasury under the present officials.

Clerk Bum-gardner has made a splendid record and the city Is already the gainer by more than $1,000 under his business like methods. Dr. Sanderson commenced a fight on Chief Atkins of the fire department, and also continued to cut down the marshal's salary. The usual bills were allowed, and general business transacted.
