We sincerely trust that no one In the peaceable little town of Haddam can take anything in the following as designed especially for himself (or herself as the cause may be): Whisky under ordinary circumstances can, and does do a great ileal of mischief Hut when you desire to see the devil do bis best work at torturing poor humanity just call iu ai see him when he has turned a lot of long aud limber tongues loose in a cotr.nuniiv, There is a clss of creatures things that are neither men or women, they are hyenas in human form, and they gorge themselves to the full ou the foul and feted falsehoods that continually ooze from slimy and stinging sewers of each other's mouth's. Their daily tood is falsehood and filth; and tbe more nauseating and the more nourishing and nutrici-ous to these floating daintiest djsb Is served up In its most savory twitrt wbratwoovt Uirej pf them meet to bandy lies about some good and virtuous woman. These he-har-lots of hades are always happiest when speaking the-spawn of their lecherous lies over the sainted name of wife or mother, tor by so doing the ilevllsh Ichor dripping from tbeir ulcerous lips, will cat through and posiou tbe whole family. The meanest thing on earth or in hell a telltale terroagent. Shut your ears aud doors against him.

Let these filthy fiends feel that yu loathe them as you do sow fresh from her wallow. If the long eared and long tongued bound comes into your presence, bid him begone and retura to his vomit. Kick these skunks of society out of your path, make them teel they are no more welcome in your presence than is the bed-bug or the polecat. Show there Is no place for tbem In decent society any more than there is for buzzards; or the bawd, or tbe louse invested bat. Sooner would we welcome to our humble home a slimy snake than one of these babbling, tattling, scandal-serving cesspools that befoul society.

We are glad if there are none in Haddam, male or female, to whom the above will apply. Our town is indeed lucky to be rid of them; for they are the drawbacks of civilization, the disturbers of peace, the baue of society, the propagators of more mischief than hisky in its most dire reign. They are, tricky, dishonest, low and selfish, human phouls possessing man's every evil passion, and the devil's worst attributes. If you know of any such post them on hell's approaches, that Satan himself may shun them an even too low to associate with trie most depraved pimps of pandemonium. John Mutb returned Tuesday from a trip to the new State of Washingten.

He was gone three weeks, and we Venture the assertion that John can see as much territory In th; length of time as many fellows would in a half year. Be visited Olympia, and several other of the large western cities. He is well pleased with the country and purchased some real estate near the capital of the state. He saw Frank Taylor, ho is engaged in real estate business, and expects to soon get a job as night watch man in a new hotel that is to be opened at Olymp If Jhu cau dispose of his Haddam City interests be will move nut there. The farmers' alliance are establishing exchange stores throughout the state and in many places goods are being furnished at 7k Per cent profit to the farmers. i There a class of peopl, aud Haddam City is by no meaus free from this class, who spend more time iu looking after the business of other people than they do after their own affairs.

W. Smith, is a very prominent gentleman down there and stands at the head of the alliance. As we said last week the politicians are red hot Bfler Mr. Smith. There is no question but a town well would be a Rood investment and the city council would bejustiliedin having one put down.

If the well is for public use it should be paid for out of the public tunds. What Is of interest the town Is of interest to every citizen and we are surprised that some of our people should oppose ths expenshm ot a thousand dollars or even more for a good public well and tank. We have received from the Kansas seed house their annual catalog and would advise all those desirins to purchase any kind of field, garden or flower seeds to write for prices, or call at this office and look over their catalog. If they are in business and on do not call on them they will insin uate that you are owing some one else aud are under obligations to deal with them.

Very often these fellows who talk so much about other people debt's are treasuring your corn in their own half bushel. know men who are now and have been tor years living on the charity of politicians aud others merely because they are at all times ready to do their bidding.
