Through the kindness of Bro. C. L. Crookham we have received the Carrollton papers which contained the notice of the death of Bro. Samuel Adkinson, a former member of this church, and one of its first officials.

Bro. Adkin-son was a true soldier, both under the flag of his country and the banner of the cross. We cannot repeat all congratulations, but it is a fact that a bright baby boy came totbe parsonage, Sunday, Anguot 2nd. Our prayers are that he may be spared and grow into manhood, and deserve all the good things said about him and we hope some day that he will take up our work and do better than we have done or hope to do. While we are praying for this we are informed that nineteen out of every twenty preachers in the Michigan Conference are sons of Methodist preachers.

His name is Ralph Mallalieu. Rev. J. A. Hyden will preach A LETTER FROM THE PASTOR.

Dear Brother and Sister: This is the month that we are expecting to begin special the conversion of the unsaved and the building up of believers in the Christian faith; we are praying for a refreshing from the presence of the Lord. 1. We earnestly request all our members to lay aside everything as far as possible, and put your whole soul, mind, and strength into the meeting. 2. We invite all Christian people to come and feel at home, do all the good you can, and receive good.

3. To the unsaved friends, we most earnestly invite you to come. Our prayers are that this may be the time and place when you may be able to sing, Happy day when Jesus washed my sins away." Brother and sister, you have it within your own power to make this the grandest meeting of all your lives. Come one, come all, to the gospel call, Both little and big: there is room for all. Come every night, both dark and light, The spirit of llsht can lead you right for us Nov.

25th in behalf of the veterans of the church,.
