One soon awakens to the charm of the quiet, yet interesting place and have barely time to make the acquaintance of the guide before Man-moth lot Springs are reached. Here is a Soldier's Fort and a hotel, encircled on two sides by great walls of brilliant red, green yellow or dazzling white sediment. On top of tliost? walls are hot steaming pools of water, whose steadv overflow of hot mineral water has built up these great crater walls. Here also is a hot dry cave known as Devil's Kitchen, very well named. After leaving this, the journey goes onward through the Golden and Silver gates, through about sixteen miles of pines, with now and then falls or little mineral springs, until the first camp is reached.

We will suppose this camp to be one of Wiley's permanent camps. On arrival of the party, they are assigned tents from the many rows of rectangular tents which are numbered. These all have wooden floors and are fairly well furnished. Each one has a stone to protect its inmates against the frequent mountain frosts. All go to the large dining tent for supper where they are served very nicely.

After the meal, there is usually a dance, or a musical program in another pavilion, supplied by the young people, many of whom are just from college. Members of the party have discovered themselves to be "dudes," their drivers "savages," dining room girls 'beavers" and private parties without a p.uide, "sagebrushers." Everyone is up early the next morning in time to answer the summons of a five o'clock bell and to be in the stage an hour after. the next four days, one sees almost too much to appreciate it all.
