In the afternoon some few made their appearance and a dance was held in the little grove just north of the bridge, on a platform which had been erected for that purpose by R. S. Carney and others, where quite a few whiled away the hours. In the evening quite a number attended the ball and supper at Sutherland's Hill, which was a very enjoyable affair, and all went home well pleased with their reception.

About sunset every body's eyes were turned to the western sky, where the balloon that left Topeka in the afternoon could be distinguished. From the Commonwealth, we learn that the balloon came down near Wakarusa and left the baloon wedded pair, and then went on again. AT WAKARUSA. Rooks who lives some six miles east of here brought us some fine specimens pf peaches on Saturday. His peach crop is estimated at 2,000 bushels, among which will be found the California Queen and Lincoln Favorite, both of fine quality and of immense size.
