state of Kansas. Held at tp- ni'ka. 2-W it a to revive one's peculiar faeinauon ior this wonderful country of the plains. It often comes in the shape of a monstrosity or curiosity. The latest specimen of the latter class was shown us last Saturday, by Mr.

J. T. Barnes of this city, which consisted of three perfect joints of the reptile species, known to geologists as the joint snake. The joints run anj-leingly around the body with notch-shaped teeth like that of a saw. This species of snake was known to exist in the earliest history of this country, but in this age very little is known of th reDtile.

We have repeatedly heard it stated that if attacked when alive. would disjoint itself and scatter in various directions, and if left, would gather up the joints, unue mem crawl off as usual.
