It is generally impossible to make out tho official postmark, in these days of postal 'reform. There comes to us this week a new Labor reform paper from away off in Ole Virginny, American Hampton, Va. It Is filled clear out to the chases with mighty good reading. It wasn't the substance of what you said as to Sunday papers, Bro. Davis, but the irreverent, undevout way in which you refercd to some of "us holy elect" that lacerated Rev.

Young Ladlea' Leap Year Ball. We said in our last issue we would give a mere extended notice of the Leap Year Ball, given by the young ladies of Howard. Those present frjra a distance. were: Miss Ella Baker of Wichita, Mrs. Gus Baldwin of Valley Center, Kiss Edith Dennis of Grenola, Miss Fannie Cross of Moliuc, and Miss Jennie Murphy of Elk Falls.

We have not space mention Howard's fairest daughters, but they were all thero. It was the most joyous, festive, pleasant, social bop we have had the pleasure of participating in for years. The music was superb, and after each set of the merry dancers, the Howard band, famed for its line music enlivened tho occasion. It was one of the most select parties ever given in Howard, and the remarkably good taste and common sense displayed by tho young people in making no distinction between the industrious good girl and her more favored sister, won. our ndmiration and created a more favorable imprecision with us than anything else coijld have done.

There was no such thing as caste or class on this festive occasion, and the morale was made up of the most worthy," brightest and loveliest daughters of this country, and what seemed strange to us Was the entire absence of the snag-teeth old maids with the dieaway look (chalked for tie occasion), and the false-toothed mother tenderly caring for her Samanthajane for fear she might be led astray by some one not worthy of her poor, young, innocent and artful girl. Tho young lady with the canary or parrot was absent, and the young lady with the gold glasses, poodles or rat terriers, who wero just DE-lightcd with tho dog, be cause he "looked so much like Harry," vaa not thero, The upper crust tho codfish aristocracy whose papa got a start by selling liquor or peddling ta bic linon, were somewhere else. "This class never refer to bow papaw got his start. If we had known of any other entertainment we should have felt certain they were there, as this class are all marriagable if pa and ma don't object, and they wero nc er known to object.
