Oakrs, Gen'l Superintendent, Kan as City, Mo. Prof. Anderson's entertainment at the opera house last night was quite a treat to the amall audience We are inclined to think from the lack of attendance that the people were under the impression the show was not what it was represented to be. The Professor proved himself to be a gentleman and a splendid performer in the art of legerdemain, juggling and mesmerism. The gifts were distributed, as advertised.

Mr. J. E. Bridges drew the hunting case watch. A sack of flour was also one of the prizes.

Fire. Thursday morning last a long expected event took place, on the northwest corner of Santa Fe and Iron avenues. That old eye-sore and mark of ancient days (that scraggy wooden shell), was burned to the ground; and Kesler's saloon and beer garden; Hog-ben's grocery, and Kirtland's cigar store, went up in the flames. Only about $200 in property was saved. Kesler's loss $4,000, insured Kirtland's loss, $400, insured $S00; Hogben's loss $400, insured $400.

Jno. Grant, shoemaker, lost 150, and Eks-strand, tailor, lost $250. G. C. Kothe owned the building and had no insurance.

J. C. Rash Son's building had a narrow escape, and was damaged somewhat; fully insured. We hope to see a large block go up on that place soon, and hear that arrangements have already been perfected by Messrs, Kothe and Seitz to commence work at once on a magnificent block. It was directed to go by way of New York; Liverpool, England; Alexandria, Egj-pt; Singa pore, India; Yokohama, Japan; San Francisco, California; to Salina.

The postal marks show that it left Salina Nov. 10; passed Liverpool Nov. 25; marked on French Packet Dec. passed through the Suez canal Dec. 15; reached Singapore Jan.

Madras Jan. 14; Bombay Jan. 16; Yokohama Feb. 15; is again marked Yokohama Mar. reached San Francisco Mar.

Halder man conceived the trip as an experi meut, and the safe return of the card exhibits the thoroughness of postal system of the world.
