H. E. and D. E. Wismer went to Marion yesterday on important business connected with our future growth and prosperity.

Burkholder and Robert Tnruer was not a success on account of the two latter failing to respond. Our streets were nicely cleand one-day of last week by a couple of rag men, from Marion. A young man who makes his home south of Canada one day last week while the mistress of the house was gone, undertook to prepare dinner for himself and brother, who was gathering corn. Chicken seemed to strike his craving appetite.

His firm, Good WTismer are making arrangements for a more extended business than ever for the coming season. Mr D. B. Sbantx, of Berlin Ontario, and a member of the firm of Jacob Shantz Sons Button manufacturers with a branch factory at Buffalo Y. is visitng friends and relatives here this week.

He is on a flying wep-tern visit and will stop in Nebraska on his return. He may possibly invest here. John Siebert tells us he witnessed- last Thursday Mr. Gady's team and wagon with a load of stone go over an eight foot embankment at the Will Siebert' bridge over the Cottonwood river. The hill on the other side is quite steep and having no to hold back the heavy load the team could not keep a straight 'corse plunging them all into the river beside of the bridge smashing the A i wagon, but fortunately not injuring xl the driver or team, J.

R. Burkholder took the east bound Mouday evening for an extended visit through Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. He ex- i pects while in Chicago to interview several of the leading wholesale houses in regard to the purchase of a large spring stock for his firm. CANADA. Communicated.

The thriving little town of Canada was called into exsitence in the spring of 1884, and is located on the Marion McPherson railroad, operated by the great Santa Fe railroad. It is within one-half mile of geographical center of Marion county with a population of a little over ne hundred. Various branches of busniess are represnted by the following persens, viz: Burkholder Siebert Co handles dry, goods groceries hardware and farming implements and are doing an extevsine busniess and are a safe and reliable firm to trade with. Dr. Blake has a first class drug store where you can get any thing usually found in that line of busniess.

He ib also a practicing puybiciau. i.ne Farmer's bank, Isaac Good, President, is an especially strong institution, and is doing a safe, conservative business. Burkholder Bro's are dealers in lumber and coal, and are making large sales. Ed. Coles and Abe.

Burkholder are proprietors of the Red elevator, and are doing an immense business in shipping grain They always pay the highest market price. Paul Bro's are proprietors of elevator No. 2, and are shrewd business men, and always pay. top prices for wheat, corn and oats. They are also feeding several hundred head of sheep D.

H. Good and H. Keller are each running well equiped blacksmith shops. Mr. Moritx Son have just purchased lots, and will at once build and go into the tinning business.

A telegraph and express office are located here, witii Jno. Welfare Jr. as agent. The Canada Arcade is published here weekly is chuck full of local news, and every one ought to take it, only seventy -live cents a year. Henry Wisiuer is postmaster, and haadles large mails daily.

The agricultural surrounding is unsurpassed in the State, and is set tied by a happy and prosperous people. Correspondent. We have printed a Jot of contracts for Samuel Burkholder, Jr, who is letting out a large number of cattle un shares for five years. Mr. B.
