Qaaken- bush were at Mr. Cunningham's last Saturday evening. A good many of the farmers are cutting grain. Anna Owen, of Beloit, is visiting in the country this week. Last Sunday was the Springfield Children's day and a good many of Fairview folks attended It.

The Nebraska State Journal ef June 22th gives an account of the compositors of that paper donating their earnings for the night of June 20th toward paying off the debt of the Y. C. A. of Lincoln, and he amount realized was $91.05. We notice the names of A.

Neiswanger and L. D. Huff, a Bethany farmer, to raise a fund of $500, to the Goodland rain Co. to operate at this point. The company agrees to pioduce an inch of rain for the principal of no rain, no pay.

$35 were subscribed during the day, which would seem to indicate that our citizens haven't much con fidence in the rain producing scheme. The woman was kicked in the face while the man received blows on the face and arms. After being kicked out of the buggy they were found by a mover lying In the road. He brought them back to town and put them in charge ot Dr. Weaver, who dressed their wounds and got them in very comfortable condition. In Marlet, June 26, 1893; John McAlpine, aged 66 years, 5 months and 34 days. ne was born in nolton county, Ontario, Canada; was united in marriage to Miss Ann McTarvish, June 14th, 1851, and In September, 1856, removed to he resided about 18 years. He came to Kansas in April, 1874, where he has continued torecide. Some months ago, realizing that his health was fast falling, he went to Buffalo, New York, for treatment; thence to Michigan on a visit to relatives and friends, and while there died at the home cf his sister, Mrs.
