Powers came in from Missouri yesterday having left a number of baffled Missourians to mourn and swear over his departure, Ic will be remembered that a little more than one week ago Mr. Powers returned with the mortgage properity driven off by Mrs. Young. Well before he got away from the little town of Oregon in Holt county he had been arrested for criminal libel and a fight was commenced for the property by parties over on that He eluded the attchments and after some heavy driving reached Salina. In order to escape he was made to give bond for his trial for libel and accordingly returned the latter part of last week to find that the state was not ready.

He demanded trial, released his surity and before another bond could be prepared was on this side the river, having made a ten mile trip on land and a river voyage in a skiff. He is not going back very soon either. As a matter of fact there is no case against him but an effort has been made by parties who were taken in on the other side to put Mr. Powers and his backers to large expense. When Ed." goes for a thing he goes to get it and his success in this venture is great.
