E. J. Myers returned yesterday from a month's visit in Western Kansas. The farmers look: a great deal more cheerful since the rain last Friday night. It will pay you to read the advertisements of the Fall River merchants.

Kilmer. the manager of the Silica Sand plant, has been detained at his home in Chanute for the past two weeks by an attack of typhoid malaria. not entirely recovered, he is able to be about again. J. L.

Fitzmorris left Sunday for Eureka Spsings, Arkansas, to join his family, who have been there for several weeks. Jim had intended to make the trip in his auto, but the rains the latter part of last week put the roads in such bad condition that he decided not to try it. W. S. Kilmer came from his home at Chanute Monday and the work at the Sand plant is now going ahead.

Things have been at a standstill for the past couple of weeks while waiting for some some heavy timbers to arrive but they are here now and are being installed and the plant will be ready to tesume work in a day or two. note S. J. Brooks of Haviland, Kansas, who has been visiting relatives here for the past two weeks, returned to his home Tuesday. Mr. Brooks used to live here and his ordered the Times sent to him at Haviland.

Mr. and Mrs. T. Kimball and son Frank, and Dick Berten- shaw went to Eureka Wednesday to attend the wedding of a cousin. The unusual feature of this wedding is that both the contracting parties are deaf-mutes.

Obituary Milburn Langworthy, age 26 years, died Friday, July 29, 2 p. m. at the home of his mother, Mrs. Ida Fullerton, in the south part of town after an illness of about a week from a complication of penecious malarial fever and acute cerebral meningitis. It was not known that he was seriously ill, and his death came as a shock to his many friends.

The funeral services were beld at the home Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Getman of the M. E. Church. Interment was made in the Jackson cemetery.

The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church. His many friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved family. Magazines at the Times office. Chas. Buckley was a Howard visitor yesterday.

Chas. Shultz came in from Wishita yesterday. Rev. Getman was a Severy visitor Wednesday. Mark Rhbinson is now night watchman at the Silica sand plant, Harry Pumphery returnd from a week's visit at Wichita yesterday.

Mrs. M. A. Morton purchased F. Keller's farm west of town this week.

Mound City Paints may cost a rifle more but Hill-Eng strom Lumber Co. The Methodist Sunday School is holding a picnic in Wickersham's grove today. The city council has decided to build a city jail and is advertising for bids in this issue. Mrs. M.

F. Keller and son Orange went down to Neodesha on business and pleasure tuip Monday. Mrs. May Harrison of Pratt, Kansas, stopped off here Tuesday on her return from a visit with her parents with Miss Addie Cunningham, going on home Wednes- Mrs. E.

A. Robinson came in Tuesday evening from Pratt, Kansas, for a several weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. W.

Cunningham, and other relatives and friends. Word was received here this morning that the mother of J. A. Sauders died in her home in Fredonia last week. The funeral will be held at Hillside.
