i roin our regular oorrtwpoudent. Euitob Stab: I urn greatly In lym pathy with your effort to run a paper in the state, and, If you win allow me I will say something about the neces- slty of a Baptist paper In the state or Kansas, though youthful, Is a great field and can be very largely possessed by the Baptists If the right mean are properly applied, Tho question for consideration, then. I. What I the means to lie employed. 1 till an swer, our attention will be directed to tho end that Baptists limy bo awaken ed and enter upon proper iwrsuita of prosperity as the only gospel church of the Son of flush 8 l'aptist and in the spirit "the captain of our the only means of ferod In tho Bible as all know Is the Goski1 of Jesus Christ.

Preach tno Gospel, sayeth the Lord, "to every creature." Ho that belloveth and Is baptised shall bo saved. Aside and apart from the Gospel, theru are other means necessary, which, If constituted and used rightly, would greatly strengthen tho forces of the Baptists in the state, and would tend toward the removal of many evils which confront us as Baptists and of U-n checks the cause of advancement that might be made by many of tho local fields. Among these minor fields may be acknowledged those of Christian liber ality and unlsouof brothers as missionaries. We cannot afford to be otherwise than charitable and liberal In our contributions to the Master's cause. "As iuucn as ye uia it unw one of brethren.ye have done It unto me" says Christ, our Savior May we not see plainly from the words of tho Savior that every gift to the needy Is acknowledged to be a deed In tho interest of Christ's kingdom.

But we must sadly confess that this spirit of giving does not exist in allot the local charges among the Baptists in tho state, and why? Simply because they have not been taught this duty and privilege of giving to Christ. Thero Is also a lack of ministerial unison and fidelity in the state and there fore, not the peace and harmony which pervaded the lives and work of the apostles and early Chrlstalns until these shall be removed from tho midst of the Baptists of Kansas, we can never hope for that progress which should be seen.and which Is character istic of the work of Christ and his ear ly followers. Then conies the great necessity for a state Journal such as the Star. Through this, tho minis ters can report of their work, speak of their need.nppeal for suclilhelpas might lie necessary for their locality and ac- write an article on the doc trines of our church, teach those who are without proper teaching of the things which God hath set forth in his word for the pushing on the victory of His Son's cross and say many other needed things which cannot be well met by local or personal correspondence. The question is being asked, "Can Baptlsts.support a paper?" Let us answer If we will." Let Baptists remember that they have the surest foundation and grandest bai warks which the life, death and rcssu- roctlnn of Jesus could foster and It only remains for them to carry out the directions of their Leader when they may look back upon a world captured for the kingdom of God and his (Jhrist, One thing we need is more missionary spirit.

If you don't want to give, en couraare him who will. It is better to help than hlndor. Give us more doc trinal sermons, Brother Preacher, that the world may know who we are and the church will grow if you believe in one faith, one Lord, and one baptism, say so. Now what are we going to do about the Union in February? Emporia can you take it about the last of February? Emporia you, Lawrence, Ottawa, nt-nute, or Eureka ought to take it and let It meet. Speak quick. Ed. thedolnusof the pastor of itfei talu church. Now, look here, brother, let me say to you have nothing to do with church meeting orchurch quar rels: neither do we publish quarrels, politics, love letters, and neither do we reprint what everybody else has read until they have tired themselves out.

Rut anything that elevating tin not hesitate to send It at once for publication. EMPORIA. from our regular ourrwpondt'iit. The woman has lieen with held from every duty as lielng the weaker vessel of God's creation. Rut there seems to lie something lieneath those curly locks Is'iiehYlal to every man and woman.

They Sik'HukI to be blessed with that tlriuness that makes Isith men and women successful in any enterprise. Yes, you must have grit. They have It, richly. When they start at man though ho lie a member of the rouges that hold up trains and robs tho malls, he may lw a seller liehlnd the bar, where from one hundred to one thousand souissiami nniiumi up their lives; If a woman of gritstarts at that man, she can and will make something of hlur, honest men have been made of those who used to steal; sober.vlgllent men of the intemperate; men of wealth of those that set on tho street saying, "I have sipped unto vou but you have not danced." GikI bless the little, largo, and medium women, who have done something for humanity. Some thought tho woman to bo only useful at home in social and domestic affairs, but God has called them to a more noble work than that of fashion.

Rut men have waited to see what they would do, not giving hand nor a word of encouragement. God gave them to you brother, for you and them to help each not that she should commence a work.and you to be a bum or deadbeat. Sit still and see what they will do. When you come home, fatigued by lielng chased by your honest debtors, rouud the cor ner, down the street across tho back grounds, home; how would you feel to tell the story and have her say, "Ah, well you owe it. He ought to chase you and catch you." You would say lko Jrs.

Job, to Job, "Job, curse I GikI and die." You, old boy, would curse her out of her mind, out of her senses. Help, brothers, come up and help against sin.mightiy for God. You could not hold your peace from bust ing out In like Peter cursing and swearing. Husband, help your wife Brother help your sister. Sister, help your brother, and then you can fulfill your mission.
