The growth of Gypsum the past year and the Mattering future we have in store, leads us to believo that we could organize at this time one other good lodge in this city in addition to what we have, and that is the Knights of Pythias. No other order has.

'Heck Wheelock have been turned up side-down in their store this week, painting and otherwise cleaning up, preparatory to doing a rushing business during the holidays and extending it throughout the year 1887. If steps are not taken to incorporate pretty soon, which will give us the advantage of sidewalks and other equally important improvements, about midwinter we will be submerged in a sea of mud and slush that would take the energy of a muskrat a decade of years to dig out. Mr. Baraett, the plasterer, but for the timely medical aid of Dr. Sawtell, would have choked to death Tuesday night. Work resumed on our new hotel and church, and pushed to completion. Men become citizens before they solicit official favors. And wonld like to know if the proposition to incorporate is not deferred for their benefit and, if so, if their little scheme wont "drap" pretty hard when it comes to a test.
