Large numbers of railroad ties are being carried through tow every day, and deposited along the line of the Kansas Central B. R. The cars of the Kansas Central Railway arc now running to Half Mound, six miles this side of Grasshopper Falls. Only fourteen miles more to reach Holton. One of the Kansas Central engineers was in town the other day, and said that the cars of that road can be seen from hereon the opposite side of the creek week after next.

The next social of the Presbyterian church this will be held at the residence of Mr Jacob Huron, one and a half miles east of town. in his correspondence from Nctawak, says they have a croquet club up there, and they think of sending a challenge to the Holton Club No. 1.
