The location is one of the best; the distance from other towns very favorable; one of the best agricultural districts in the state surrounds it; -as, a stock and grain shipping point it is no superior, and in short everything is ivorablo to make a tlrst town. If there was a little more coun yeling together, a little more time de voted to public interests, the benefits of such a course would soon be ap paraut, and Glen Elder would quickly respond to the impulses. Let all work aud pull together. Mr. Gibson Gill, colored, who lives in Custer township, this county, was in town last Wednesday for lum ber to build a new school house iu his district.

He informs us that there are about thirty colored families in his part of the country, and all doing well. Four years ago he went ou his homestead with a span of horses, two cows, wife and six children. He now has a half section of land, good team, fourteen head of cattle and other things in proportion. He is going to build a new barn this fall. Mr.

Gill was a soldier, aud served under ap Thomas," in the Twenty-Third Army Corps. He is now forty seven 3-ears old, and his chances for becoming a Kansas millionair, is as good as any mun'f in the state. ACORN STOVES DO NOT GET ALARMED-MORE NEW GOODS! I have a fresh stock of Millinery Goods, and more on the road. Ladies can always suit themselves in Styles, Prices and Quality ol fork, at my rooms. Thanking a generous public for a liberal patronage, I respectfully ask for a continuance of the same.

II. W. ANDREWS. In teariuy down the old mill last week, one of those old pre historic dis coveries was made which so closely connects the present with the past. On a dirty, black piece of slate, was fouud the following inscription, which has been translated our language.

-'Kaull, Nash Wilcox, Bell more kinds of and better coal, than any oth er firm this side of Pennsylvania." In making preparation for the power for their new mill, Kaull Nash found the foundation of til old mill iu such bad order that they were com pelled to tear down all the old struc ture. The old mill was one of the land marks of this country, and will be missed by the old settlers, but it had served its purpose and had to make way for another arid better mill. with us all we our day; serve the purposes for which we were intended, and like the old mill, are removed.anc structures better than ours are raiseti up to do the work of the world.
