J. Greenwald read an interesting paper on this subject. Discussed at length by Mr. Miss Squire, Mr. Winslow and Prof.

Goddard. Mr. Culver- not being: present. "The Advantages of a Higher Education" was thoroughly discussed by-Prof. Goddard of Grellet Academy.

Terry and family, of east Tennessee, arrived in the city yesterday and will make this their future home. Mrs. Terry is a sister of Jim Slavin. Our enterprising blacksmith firm, Hankins Bogardus, are the sole manufacturers ul the Cyclone Harrow for Mitchell county. These cen-tlemen have built up a first class business here in blacksmithing and wagonmaking which goes to show that their new enterprise will be a success.

The boys are. deserving and should you need anything in their line you may be sure of fair treatment. On the 20th day of April, 1894 was the Fifteenth Anniversary of -Mr. and Mrs. John Sutton.

Their friends and neighbors thought they would go in and join in celebrating the occasion by giving them a genuine surprise, and they did so, and presented them with a beautiful crystal water set. Mr. and Mrs. Sutton set up the treats- handsomely, and all went home happy after an evening well spent and all- joined in wishing Mr. and Mrs.

Sutton many more happy returns of tho day. Mrs. C. S. Andrews and Miss S.

L. Andrews, returned from an extended visit in California and Oregon, last Tuesday morning. They started from here in January and visited in San Diego, until the first of March when they went to Oregon, where they have been until their return homo. Mrs. and Miss Andrews had the opportunity of seeing the demonstration at the opening of a new gold mine, in Atdiland, California, last Thursday.

People who pay taxes here and help to build up the town should receive the patronage. By so doiug you will not only be helping your co-workers but building up the town as well. Let us all work for the best interests of Glen Elder. One of the pleasant features of the day was a very pleasant surprise party gotten up for Mrs. Dr.

Monday evening April 23, it being her 28th birthday. The neighbors1 and friends thought to gather in -and spend the evening. They; presented her with a very beautiful water set; she also recieved a very handsome cake stand' and'' a beautiful picture. She was very much surprised but rallied and came forth' with refreshments consisting of fruit and 'cake, after which all present declared a pleasant time and wished Mrs. Borst many happy returns of the day.
