A Fine Show Case. 0. M. Wllhite has now one of the finest show eases in the state o( Kansas at the Hit-Way. The case is seven foot long, and three feet wide, and Is entirely of plate glass, with the exception of the back part, which has a light frame and sliding doors, There is only one other case like it in the state of Kansas, and that is owned by a man at Topeka.

The Bhow case cost $100. Thieves Abroad- -Sunday night the hardware and har ness store of 1'oung DeBold of Opl, was entered by burglera and a number ot articles stolen. Suspicion at once retted on H. Kelson who had formerly beeneraplojed by the firm, Slit riff O'Connor Was notified and soon after arrested Kelson, A skeleton key was found in his possession which proved to be the key which had unlocked the store door. Kelson's trunk was also searched and in was found a new set of harness When confronted with the fact that the harness had been found in bis trunk, be claimed that Cfcaa.

Chambers had brought the harness to him tor safekeeping. A warrant was sworn out and Sheriff O'Conner went to OIpe for bis man. Chambers denies anyonnection whatever with the stealing. Both men are now in jail, to answer to the charge of burglary. Chamber waived pre liminary and is out on bond.

A Hard Luck Story About fifty head of horses arrived in town this moralng and were taken to the Jim Davis livety barn, where they will be offered at mortgage sale, Saturday There is a hard luck story connected with this sale. Every body knows Judge Randolph, The Judge is a good natured man and is willing to stake his last dollar when his friends are in trouble or hard up. During the last few years Mr. Randolph has been called up on several times to' go on notes as en dorser for his friends who wanted to borrow money from the banks. Things drifted along and the parties failed to meet their obligations.

It then became necessary for the Judge to put up the cash or collateral. Not havln; the cash at hand he gave a mortgage for $5,600 on his herd of bio ded horses. The rest of the story is told in the mortgage sale ad in this paper. Hot a dollar of this money for which Mr. Randolph sacrifices his herd ot 50 blooded horses ever went into his pocket.

He went on the notes to accommodate his friends and now must 8ufferfor it. Warren Oase Decision. A decision was today rendered by Probate Judge Mason in the Warren Si Harrison administration case. This Is the case In which S. H.

Warren administrator, filed bis report some time ago. The widow of the late b. B. Warren appealed from the decision, The decision Is against H. Warren for $3,808 la favor of the estate.

An appeal was taken and the case will likely be settled.ln Dis trict court Joe Williams an old time engineer of the Santa Fe, and who-haa resided in Emporia for years, returned Monday form Mena, Arkansas, where he has a ran on the Pittsburg Onlt railroad. Elmer Miller has commenced the erection of a residence on Cotton wood street, Fred Layton, of 813 Neosho Street having a new roof put on bis house making other needed repairs. Frank Hughes, an old Emporia boy, who now makes Heiden, Hein county, Texas his headquarters, is home visiting his parents, Corner 6th, avenue, and Kural Street.
