Record should have had the job, yet the people of the county will be pleased with this one act of the commission We Feed The Hungry, During the day various bills were Ileaijnarters for Everytoiy allowed, and the Board stood adjourn "Girls and the EfeneF Life." The above is the caption of a most brilliant outburst by William Allen White in his last Thursday nights Gazette. He arraigns the High school girls of Emporia and charges them with being incompetent worthless characters just because they have dared to extend their education further than a steam laundry, canning factory or back room of a butcher shop.

The graduating class especially irritates him. It breaks his alleged heart to see one of them appear before the foot lights with her graduation essay tied withribbons. He says when sheenters upon the wave of life about the only thing she has to commend her is that she was able to get into the High school. He assumes that because a young lady has graduated in the High school with -honors that therefore she must necessarily be a good for nothing strumpet at home. We deny that such is the case but to the contrary positively assert that not a single lady graduate of ie Emporia High school fills the picture he has drawn but all are as useful as polished and we will give him a ten dollar William if he will point out a single instance to the contrary.

He should either know what he is talking about or quit talking. He says: "Hew many of these girls can wash a baby?" Well, we would like to know what difference it makes to Willie White whether or not there is a girl in Emporia who can wash a baby. From all past indications he will never need require any such accomplishment from even a servant girl in His house. As Gov. Eskridge has said: ''What ers.
