In a conversation this morning with O. B. Kcmm, of Sunbury we learn of the incorporation of gas works for thto city. The Incorporators are Judge Sears, Peter Shiran, Horace J. Smith and Dr.

L. C. Wassou. The articles of incorporation were sent for filing to-day to the Secretary of State at Topeka. 'Mr.

Remm proposes that if the citizens here subscribe for from Ave to ten thousand dollars worth of stock to this enterprise, that he will erect works to cost not less than 825,000. He desires merely the passage of an ordinance giving him the exclusive right to lay gas mains through the city for the next eight years, and that the city pay for tho use of at least twenty lights, it is estimated that not less than three miles of main will be necessary for the city. He guarantees that the gas be sold to private consumers at 82 per thousand and to larger consumers at an appreciably less cost. Mr. Remm further states that he will procure suitable site upon which to erect the manufactory and gasometer free of any contribution from the city.

"This propost Ion meets with th" thuHlaHtlcnR-r-A-iil of our leadin outside of the support and succor they give it as public-spirited business men, the return for their investment will be a profitable one. "The gas will be manufactured from coal oil, or rather from what is known as naphtha, the cheap residuum left after refining coal oil by means chemical processes and agitators. This material. In order to supply cheap gas, is carbonized into fixed gas. lt gives a brilliant light and is efjiiul to fourteen standard sperm candles to a jet.

It Is free from all ob-jectlonal qualities, and gives a softer, steadier 'and more brilliant light than coal or pitch gas itself. It. is used all over the country, and only last week Mr. Remm lit np the city gas work at Warsaw, and two weeks before nt Holly Springs, Miss. "We cannot from tho testimonials before us but urge on -our citizens the importance of illuminating our prosperous young city with this make of gas, and the names of the incorporators are a sure guarrantee that Its quality Is reliable, convenient, cheap, clean, and must tend to reduce insurance."
