There are to be three judges for each department of six courts, or six judges in all, three of whom are to be Republicans, two Populists and one Democrat. The court for the northern department will be held at Tope-ka, Concordia and Colby; for the southern department at Fort Scott, Wichita and Garden City. The courts at Wichita are to be held in the months of January, May and October. The judges get $2,500 each per anum. There will be two clerks of court, one for each department, to be elected by the judges, and one stenographer for each judge.

The cities in which the courts are to be held are to furnish court rooms free to the state. Two judges constitute a quorumtfor eacbcourtand may hold sessions in the absence of the third Dish Washer business for it. Two large petitions were presented to the house Wednesday, one praying for the resubmission of the prohibitory amendment, the other protesting against such action. Colonel Veale, on behalf of the resubmission league, which he said was non-partisan, offered the league's petition containing nearly 40,000 names. The Barnes were all secured op blanks of the same style and were evenly bound together and the result tabulated by counties. In direct contrast was the petition of the temprance element, was handed to the clerk by Speaker Lob-dell.

This petition was a big, round bundle, eighteen inches in diameter, made up of paper of various" sizes. It was said to contain over 23,000 names.
