The B. M. has crossed the bridge, and will run the first train into Concordia about to-morrow evening. The regular passenger will be put on FltlDAY, AUGUST 15, 1884. 'JJE3ZEnr IS IT? Captain Potts, of Glasco, was in town one day last week.

Mr. Gus Ott, Glasco'a postmaster, was in town Monday. i IWJJllrackenis in town. lie is from Solomon' township. ,1 Al Sears has resigned his position as editor of the Burr "Oak Reveille, and has, we are bought the Mankato Monitor." Al is' one of the best newspapermen in Kansas, and we sincerely hope he-will meet with tnV'success he deservee in his new enterprise.

In his good bye article in- the Reveille he says the following: With this issue of the Reveille I resign my position as editor; I do so to accept a better position elsewhere. In a business way the paper has prospered, and in behalf of its stock-holders I thank you for your generous recognition of its qualities as an advertising medium. As a news gatherer it has been my ambition to tell the truth and call people and things by their right names, regardless-ofwhoat offended or favored. If I have made 'enemies bj so doing, I am glad of it. friends I have made' I am proud of and will welcome the, opportunity to do them a friendly turn in response to the many kindnesses shown me.

In conclusion, I submit that if in my six months editorial work in Burr Oak I have said or done any thing to be sorry for, I am Mc attempts to explain the Whatcom business, and abuses us for publishing the article, stating that we knew it was not true. How did we know it? We had his statement or it an1 if should judge by our pastknowledge of his truthfulness we should certainly know it to be untrue. If we believed it to be false and he should say it was we would change our opiniQn. Beside that, he gave a different explanation of it a year ago. He told us then that the boys who run that paper published the article because they had been promised a sum of money for starting the paper, by the town company and that they were about not to get it and they they thought by getting him to reorganize the company they would get it and that the reason they felt hurt was because he refused to go into the company and help them out, which expkv nation seemed absurd and rediculous to us at the time forwe knew fthat a new company would not be holden for the contracts of the old.

He intimates that the boys would not have published the article after they had his explanation, but we wonder what he would say about a letter written to a Concordia man by them two or three weeks ago stating that it was true and that he had tried to play smart with them. But we are glad to see you on the defensive side a while booby, you will find, how it goes. Sella show is advertised to be at Minneapolis September 6.
