But as I did not see anything, I thought I would express my views. Now this city could be well lighted and at a reasonable figure. Oar place has grown to such dimensions that we ought to begin to think of electric light.

Of course there are some who will hoot at the idea, but you will find them hooting at everything. Now if our council should light our principal streets and business places with electricity, it could be done cheaper and far better than it is now a. Dealer In Doable Marring. or could be done with oil or gas. It is a downright shame that strangers coming to our city, looking for a future home and business location, finds himself after nightfall groping around our city in total darkness, except when a friendly light, here and there, is thrown across his way by a store lamp shining through the window. Such things tell against a city of our size. And while I am writing allow me, if your space permits, to suggest another very valuable improvement which might be made by our business men, and that is, a system of telephones. The different business houses, the depots, and our homes, such as saw fit, could be connected and thereby save much valuable time and and often increasing trade to a great extent.

Both of these matters would be of enough moment to discuss along with the other issues that seem to be engrossing the time and attention of so many. It will be seen that the underlaying idea is that fine animals cost more, yet there is no thought they will sell for more. The small farmers alluded to, consider themselves only as buyers, never reflecting that they will be sellers some day. No one can now successfully dispute that well bred animals are more profitable; hence the small farmer, is just the one that cannot afford to rear any other kind.

In many ways he must compete at a disadvantage with the large farmer, and if he does not raise as good stock, at least, as they, he can hardly make any money. He cannot keep many animals, hence he can give each one more of his personal attention than the large farmer can, and the pure-bred animals are the most grateful for such attention another reason why the small farmers should rear only such.
