Paul, and Rock Island railroads, it is natural for me to take a great 'interest in railway employes. 'However, I am not in the railroad business now; but my memory reaches back to the times we have spent while "holding down the hill," find "in the little red caboose behind the train." If I can be of service to the readers of the Companion, here is my and I will post up and give the boys some pointers on California railroads. Hoping that success may attend the Companion, I am, respectfully, Nugget. Engineer Goffrey has fallen heir to engine 982 and Aleck Cohorn is in deep mourning. Aleck wa3 a general favorite with the boys. The wood-working machinery of the car department will arrive this week This will employ fifteen more carpenters in the car department. Mr. Vermillion assistant master mechanic, has withdrawn his resignation and the boys are happy.

He is without doubt the most popular official on the system. James M. Duke leit Friday morning for Osawatomie, where he will prepare himself to take a position in the roadmaster's de partment under Roadmaster Kipp. He will be stationed at Salina. Jim has many warm friends in Ilolden who wish him a full measure of success.

Riley is connected with the Kansas conference hence Mr. Rudisill will close the work for the present year. The charge is unanimous in wishing his return for next year. The charge is in an excellent condition and the churches hopeful over the outlook General manager T. Kimball, of the Union Pacific road.makes official annonce-ment that, taking effect March 1, the Kansas Central railroad and the Leavenworth, Topeka and Southwestern railway linis will be detached from the Kansas division and operated as the Leavenworth division of the Union Pacific system.

W. H. Baldwin, is appointed manager of the Leavenworth division, with headquar-crs at Leavenworth, Kansas. Until further orders he will report to the yice president. Pews have been placed in the Catholic church and the altar will soon be comple.
