The regular Republican ticket was beaten, in Lawrence, by an independent Republican 'ticket. J. B. Bowersock was elected Mayor, by a vote of 723 to 464 for Mr. Kimball.

It appears that the extreme, fanatical prohibitionists captured the Republican primaries and nominated a ticket made up1 wholly of their class. The result was tne nomination of an opposition ticket, headed by Mr. Bower-sock, a prominent business man, who was supported by Mayor Usher, Judge Thacher and the Lawrence Jonrnal. Every candidate on the opposition ticket was elected, by majorities ranging from 200 to 401. The successful candidates are practical temperance men, but not fanatics.

Among the defeated candidates is W. A. H. Karris, who ran for city attorney, and was defeated by a vote of 423 to 738 for Mr, Borgholthaus. Champion.

There never is any excuse for bolting a regular nomination.
