Daggett called J. A. Ahlborn, school examiner, Mr. Jones of Jones Magee, the great lumber merchants of Riv-erton, Nebraska, and every where else, was in town on Saturday last, looking up accounts and settleing bills. As usual, he called on the editor of the Free Press as he has great faith in the power of printers ink, Mr.

Jones reports that they can hardly keep pace with the demand for their lumber, this is not surprising when they sell at such low rates as not onlv to successful-ly compete with yards at Gaylord but to beat them by three or four dollars a thousand; and in puality Mr. Lair Dean, and Mr, J. A. Cotton, of Cora.were in town proving up on their homesteads. Last week.

Ordered, that John Bear be allowed constitutional exemption on assessment of 1879. and that the excess ot tax paid by him be applied on the last half of his tax.

Ordered that the '25 copies of Darters Kansas Statutes furnished by the State be distributed as follows: One copy each to the several Justices of the Peace in Smith duties of their office. Will Nelson got wealthy very suddenly and opened a bank account. His fees for the tew hours he was in office on Saturday amounted to the immense sum ot $1.35.
