25 cents per box. For sale by all druggists. 4'trly A Fraudulent City Charter. We say, without fear of truthful contradiction, that the organization of Cohambus into a city of the second-class was. done through fraud, and there is no one knows it better than the man who took the census last year.

For instance, there apears on the census rolls the names of Mrs. Lynch and her two sons, James and Fi ml, who have not been citizens of Columbus for four years, besides a number ot? persons that never were citizens of our town. Now some persons may say we are mad because the council has taxed us $10 for the privilege of advertising the towa and county and that what we say is all hmh, but to all uch we say if you think rrs are lyeing examine the census rolls, and when you have done this go and get Fry's hotel register of last year and see how maay names you can find there that also appear upon the census books, and think you will be satisfied that the Columbus city chai ter was obtained by fraudulent means. Peculiar. There was a very striking peculiarity in tho result of the Repul convention as to their selection of candk on the ldth, inasmuch ihat they were in fear of the Lord, for the race wag by the weak, instead of the strong, with one single exception, that John Vearch whom we think as unexceptionable as any gentleman they could haye placed upon their ticket.

Nevertheless, John Veatch may as well be informed now that we have the same kind of a gentleman in the person of Gua Foster, whom he will find shoulder to shoulder and neck to neck with him and on the home-stietch will come ont ahead, for Gus Foster is known all over the county to possess all the qualities essential to an officer and public servant of a people of the high order of intelligence and civilization of our people, and beside he be-ongs to a stronger party and one of superior and purer principles than that to which Mr. Veatch belongs. A bS3 l---'' si At the Republican convention held at CclmnbiH, Sept 10th, 1883, there were in attendance 118 delegates, all of whom were manifestly more stirred up than usual on such occasions. Whether this was owing to the fact of the excessively larg- number of patriotic souls who thought they were being hunted by some office, or whether it was the scare given them last fall by the National Greenback party in this county, was not made manifest. However, there were a great many seekers alter the coveted boon defeated, and each in his turn sat down upon.

Unfortunately for those who were left thus crushed out, there is not the usual consolation to be off -red thern by those who caused their defeat. "Never mind, boys, your time will come next year," for it is plainly to be seen by the defeated ones that when next year does come there will be no political feast for any of the party. Their political machine will be wrecked; the harvest will be past; the supper will be over and the cake removed to the National Greenback kitchen, and they will have to go to bed hungry.
