State to of So-cret The Admire Netos. 5. ADMIRE, KANSAS, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1904. NO. 11.

Word was received here Tuesday morning that J. P. Johnson, of Burlingame, had died at that place at four o'clock that morning. The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday morning and the remains brought to No. 9 cemetery where interment was made.

Mr. Johnson was the father of our townsman, W. C. Johnson, who with three sisters survive him. He was the brother of Mrs.

P.A.Smith, of Elm creek, and the late Z. H. Johnson, who lived on Elm creek. J. P.

Johnson was one of the pioneer settlers of this country, having come here in the early and has witnessed the transtormaof a barren waste into a thriving, prosperous community. The bareaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavment. J. P. JOHNSON DEAD.

A movement is on foot to put in a system of electric lights in Admire. F. C. Rustenbach and J. M.

Stillman have made a proposition to put in a dynamo and engine and furnish the power. Each party putting in lights will furnish their own wire and globes and will get their lights at about 3 of a cent per light per hour. A meeting was held Tuesday night at which the matter was discussed and it was decided by those present that it was a tine thing for the town and entirely practical. All who were there signified their intention of putting in the lights and stated they were ready atuny time to enter into a contract for the same. A contract will be eirculated among the citizens of the town during the week and we hope all will sign up freely and make a go of it for at the price proposed it is far cheaper than oil lamps and a much light.

In order to keep up with the present boom in Admire, electrie lights is the next logical step. It would not only be a great convenience if not a necessity, but it would be a splendid adyertisement of the push and energy of the town. It would show that the people were up-to-date and proposed to keep up with the procession. Let us push the matter and in a short time Ad. mire will be one of the best lighted towns in the state.
