Every day of our life has circumstances by which temper may be exercised and improved. Temper is a good thing to have; a lack of it proves a lack of other essential qualities; but, if possible, let us keep it in control; I know there are some who like to iritate those they know have a temper, "just to see them flash. I think children often have great harm done them in this way, they finp they are tempery, and some think it fun to see them in a rage.

This is very wrong. Parents should see to it that children are not teased in this wa3r. It is not in the domestic circles alone that good temper should be exercised, but it is an invaluable possession in all connections of social life. It is a passport to the esteem and affections of all. It is exhibited in all directions, by unwillingness to offend, by not opposing too strongly our own opinions and pleasures to the prejudice of others.

Good temper is manifested by a choer-ful, even tenor of spirits. It is shown towards children and our inferiors, by a willingness to promote their enjoyments, while superiority is steadily but mildly exerted to keep them in proper subjection.
