The street crossings in otir city are all right but they need fixin'. Miss Hunt was in our city Friday night and went to Agricola Saturday morning. as his wife's health is so poorly they are obliged to seek another climate. Kansas will furnish the first colony of emmigrants to settle in Cuba from the United States. John T. Veney, a colored Babtlst preacher well known in Topeka, has made arrangements for a settlement of "colored persons near Santiago, and expects to start from Topeka with about thirty families in a few weeks.

His idea is to establish a town on the high land above Santiago, which he will call Topeka. Ex- Mrs. Watkins was up from Hall's Bast meal in the city for 25 cents at the Delmonico. quit working at the fence factory and will work at the carpenter trade this summer. Chas. Truittof Williambyrg passed throngh our city enroute for Burlington Saturday. Mr. Marshall from Taylor county Iowa came in Friday and expects to make this his home. Miss Pearl Watkins of Hall Summit was a pleasant guest of Miss Belle Alexander oh Thursday evening of last week.

We understand that the magnficent edifice of the Catholjcs at Emerald will be dedicated on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. Gilbert and Clair Woodworth have Summit Tuesday trading with Waver-ly merchants Miss Irene Mathews returned Monday evening from a week's visit at Williamsburg.
