Ramey and wife returned home Monday. Wm. Mercer, of Agricola, was in our city yesterday. Thos. Jackson was at Harris on business Thursday.

Geo. McClure came in from Lawrence Thursday. F. L. Williams, of Agricola, was at Hall Summit yesterday.

D. W. Olney spent a few days at Olathe this week. Bird Combs, of Lebe, was on our streets Wednesday. Mr.

and Mrs. Jake Crawford went to Ottawa Tuesday. J. D. Kretzschmar had business in Kansas City Monday.

Frazier and wife are visiting his parents near Ottawa. Mrs. W. R. Ramey was in Williamsburg the first of the week.

T. W. McGrath returned from Kansas City Thursday evening. Frank Shafer, of Topeka, spent Sun day with friends in our city. W.

L. Baker and family left for Nickerson, Kansas Tuesday. S. S. Olney, of Olathe, is visiting his sons, who live south of here.

Mrs. Hibbard and children visited relatives at Edgerton this week. Luke Madden spent the hollidays with relatives north-east of here. Mr J. S.

Baird and wife have been visiting in Ottawa the past week. Mr. F. Bartlett and family spent a few days in Burlington this week. Messrs Homire and Venerable, of Lyndon.

Messrs Geo. Emerson and Mark Garrison returned to Baker University Tuesday morning. Miss Ellwell, who spent the holidays with her parents, returned to Baker University Tuesday. Two car loads of wire was shipped to the fence factory this week to be converted into fence. Harry Poffenbarger left Tuesday for Baldwin City, where he will attend Baker University.

Ernest Lebo, who has been spending vacation at home, returned to school at Ottawa Tuesday. Barnett Greene returned from Iola Monday morning where he has been visiting his father and brother. The funeral services of S. Severns will be held at the Agricola Methodist church at 11 o'clock Sunday morning. Mr.

S. Severns, of Agricola, died of heart trouble Thursday morning. His wife is very low with a cancer of the stomach. Mr. Roberts, representative of the Kansas City Paper House, was taking orders of the Waverly business men Thursday.

Dr. Groves is here for a time and will be pleased to meet the people of Waverly at his dental parlours at the Waverly Hotel. Unio. A great many have taken ad vantage of our offer. Mrs.

Lee, of Night-town, Indiana, aud daughter, of Boulder, Colorado, returned to their homes Wednesday after a short visit with the former's step-brother, Mr. James. D. E. Martin, E.

J. Groves and Mathias Martin, the painless dentists are in our city and will remain here one week. If you have any bad teeth you will do well to see them. The Canadian government has reduced the postage rate from 3 to 2 cents, and for the first time letters can be sent for 2 cents. The reduction took effect January 1.

Leonard, a printer formerly employed on the Lawrence World, was in our city Tuasday. He is looking for a location for a new paper. The boys say "that Marian Green went to Hill Top on the hunt of a wife and that if he found her he did not know when he would get back." A number of young people of Waver ly were royally enteatained to a watch party last Saturday evening at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. C.

and Mrs. D. Dailey. west of Waverly, Thursday evening, January 5, 1899 at 7 o'clock occured the marriage of Miss Pearl J. Dailey to Mr.

Eugene L. Warner, Rev. J. W. Cramer officiating.

It was a quiet, but pretty home wed ding, only the immebiate family relatives being present. After the ceremony an elaborate wedding supper was enjoyed. We extend hearty congratulations and best wishes for a happy prosperous married life. Mr. and Mrs.

Warner will go to housekeeping at once in Hall Summit where he has a splendid merchantile establishment. Williams--Scott. Dr. Browneli, sfecial examiner for the Metropolitan Medical Institute of Topeka, is still with us and reports that he has taken for treatment, quite a number of important cases since Christmas. J.

W. Jennings, Mrs. John White, of Agricola, H. Chicote, Frank James, Mrs. A.

R. Romery, Manning Osborn and J. W. Stewart's little grandson all of Waverly, are on the sick list, but under the very skillful care of Dr. Beasley are convalessing.

Among the Convention Hall prizes reported so far for the Waverly people are, $1. worth of laundry for John Rodgers' little boy Ralph and P. C. Knight a sack of flour. Perry says he will have all of the flour made up into Convention Hall biscuits and treat the editors.

A lovely wedding was celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Scott in this city at six o'clock, Wednesday evening January 4, 1899, when their daughter, Ruby E.

was united in marriage to Mr. Geo. M. Williams of Pond Creek, Oklahoma. Rev.

J. D. Smith, pastor of the M. E. church, in his own pleasing and.

impressive manner performed the cer-. emony in the presence of about thirty: five relatives and friends, after which. an elegant and elaborate wedding sup-. per was served. The parlors were beautifnlly deco-.

rated in becoming style by a circle of. the bride's young lady friends for the happy occasion for one of the fairest of their number. The bride and groom were attended by Miss Docia Dodd and Mr. Oscar M. Ranney.

Mrs. Williams is an accomplished, amiable, christian lady who, possesses. many beautiful womanly graces. that make her a most worthy hely-meet for the splendid young man who has secured her for his Mr. Williams is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. W. H. Williams of Waverly and is a young man of honest integrity and splendid business attainments. He is in business in Pond Creek, Oklahoma where they will make their future home.

The groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Williams, tendered the wedded couple, and a company of felends a dieneson Thursdas and in the evening the bride's brother, W.

M. Scott gave them a farewell reception to meet with the members of the Epworth League of which society she was an appreciated member. There may be just as good, but we doubt if any better fraternal organiza tion in existance tha the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The liberal and friendly good fellowship to mankind is aptly demonstrated in every instance where ever you chance to meet the "the three links." At the regular Beeting of the Waverly Lodge, No. 473, last Saturday night three were iniated and seven new members were voted on.

There has been thirty members added to the order during the last few moths. The lodge is now much more prosperous than ever and is made up of among our very best men in the community. After 11 o'clock the members repaired to Cotton's resaurant where mutual good cheer and oysters mixed and made a merry welcome for the New Year. The RECORD folks most thankfully enjoyed eatiug, oysters with the Odd Fellows and wishes them (the Odd Fellows) a prosperous year. Do you have headeche? church on next Friday afternoon, January 13, at 3:30 o'clock. Every member is urgently requested to attend..
