C. E. Dawson, of Joplin, has just received notice that his patent on a white lead packer has been 1 allowed. Mr. Dawson, after repeated experiments upon a machine for packing white lead in barrels, at last overcame the peculiarity of that material, which has baffled all previous efforts, and has brought to completion a Machine which is not only a saving of laoor, but makes the packing less injurious to health, as no lead escapes into the air to poison those who are engaged in packing it as has formerly been the case when packed by hand.

Great credit is due Mr. E. O. Bartlett for the substantial aid which he rendered Mr. Dawson in his efforts, without which he would undoubtedly have failed.

The meeting at Miltonvale will be at night. The others at such time of day as the local committee shall appoint. Senator Peffer and Congressman Otis have won an enviable national reputation as able exponents of the Peoples party, in the halls of Congress.
