One, however, haa just been found In the family of a courtier In the entourage of Lonia XVI. It waa given to him by the yoang prince's teacher of penmanship, Jourdan-Dnmesntl. It la a page from the young prlnce'a writing book, with his name. Loula Charles, written on it five times In large letters. The authenticity of these autographs haa been established beyond doubt.

It would be interesting indeed to compare these signatures with those of the pretended Dauphin, because no matter how one may copy another's writing there is always a slight difference which is detectable to the experienced eye. Martlnsburg, W. Va. A last big effort is now being made to quench the fires that have been smoldering like a pent-up volcano in the mountainous cinder piles that have for years been accumulating on a dump near the Baltimore ft Ohio railroad here. For two years these fires have been burning and all ordinary means of extinguishing the blaze have failed.
