John Stein has been on a visit to (Continued from page 2.) Illinois this summer. He has not yet Peter Bert will "wield the birch" in district 22. May White has her old school again at Carlton. Emma Martin has been reelected in district 23. Anna Coffenberger and Edith Moore will "batch" together the coming year.

Chas. Bennett has been his mother's "right hand man" in the hotel this summer. Hilda Clark has been reading, studying and cooking during the summer. She will join the class of '97 schools and will attend the State Normal at Greeley, Colo. She has recently visited in Salt Lake City.

Jessie Taylor will probably teach in county. Clara Graham has a position with J. M. Clifford. John Engle is assisting in the Chap in Grace Peck has been employed district 20.

Ora Bennett has been employed in Sept. 1st. Chas. Townsend was in the city last week to secure rooms for himself returned. Bertha Livingston will teach again this year.

She has been employed in district 64. Maud Lowry who has not been in good health for the past year is improving. Emma Herr will look after the educational interests of the children in district 6. Annie Dakin will look after the interests of both children and patrons in district 36. Fred, William and Helen Poor have spent the summer on their father's farm near town.

R. H. Graham will instruct the youth in district 103. He is a very popular teacher. Charlotte Fraser is bookkeeper with the Murphy Poor Grain company and sister.

He is ready for school work aerain. Wm. Klingberg wrestled vith the plow handles this summer. He will district 80. Harvey E.

Brown will hold forth in district 108. Laura lliff has been employed in district 105. J. B. Stauifer has been reemployed in district 69.

Cora Crain will instruct the youth hi district 12. Sidney and Winifred Pray are farming in Colorado. Callie Rugh will teach in the Enterprise schools. be on hand ready for hard work when school opens. Will Stanley made a good hand with the threshing machine during the threshing season.

He is ready for school to open. Charlotte and Anna Crouch have been spending their su mmer at Maple man creamery. Jennie Peterson will teach again this fall, and winter. Annis Roles secured a certificate to teach in Geary county. Maggie and Alice Cogan have spent their summer on the farm.

Flora Leatherman and Alice Wick will again be together this year. Viola Garver will be one of the bright members of the class of '97. Daisy McHenry will teach in the Garten district north of Solomon City. Sadie Chambers will teach near Detroit. Her mother will keep house for her.

Loson Odle has been plowing corn and incidentally playing base ball this summer. Vaugrhan and Bertha Barnes have been hard at work on their father's farm near town. Wm. Runiold has had a busy summer on the farm. He will be ready for school Sept.

1st. Frank and Charles Pattin have been hard at work on the farm and will deserve a vacation soon. Mary Pett will be found the coming year in district 116. Lillie Murphy has her old school Hill, Wabaunsee county, Both will be in school again. again in district 21.

Fannie Gibson will attend college Carrie Kugler will teach the Wesley school the coming year. Miss Laura Ryan who taught there last year will take post-graduate work. Fannie Adams has had the misfor tune to be very sick this summer, Her friends will be pleased to learn that she is much better now. Walter and Mary Wilkins spent the summer on their father's farm. Both will be in the class of '97.

Mary in Ohio again this year. Alice Sterling will be on hand ready for work September 1st. John Scanlan will spend his second year at St. Marys college. Mary Woolverton, of the class of '95, has her old school again.

Florence Moore has a seven months' school at $37.50 in district 95. Grace and Nannie Harris both have schools in districts 28 and 105. Iola Collins will teach a seven months' term in district No. 8. Mary Page will be accompanied in school this year by her brother.

He has contracted in district 70. Libbie Scott after graduating from St. Joseph's Academy has been at home in Chapman this summer. Annie Newcomer will teach her fourth year in the Hope schools. Sadie will return to the university.

Chas Munsell has been farming this summer. He has as yet not decided whether he will be in school or not. Aaron Engle will earn $43.75 a month for 8 months in district 49. It. is a large school and will demand hard work.

Torrey Kirk after mature delibera--tion has decided that he had better try teaching again. He will be at home in district 68, C. F. Runiold was planning to enter the university again this fall, but the tempting offer of $45 a month for seven months decided him to accept the school in district 46. Roy Hoy so acceptably filled Frank Halbert's place in the Hiawatha district last year during Mr.

Halbert's George Merrill will be on hand at the opening of school ready for hard work. He is an excellent student. Josie Isler has been helping in the house at home. She will be joined in school this fall by her sister, Alice. Ella Slemmer returns from Missouri to teach her old school in 92.

Chas. Turner will do post-graduate work in the High School this yar. Mamie Ruchty will preside in the new school building in district 123. Nellie Hummel has been teaching during the past year in Colorado. Jennie Jacobson has been called to district 57 for seven months at $37.50.

His grades were high enough on all branches at the last ex-amination to give him a first grade certificate; but he had not had sufficient teaching experience to secure one. Colorado claims more than a dozen of our students. Among the number are Messrs. Meserve, Halbert, Sidney and Winifred Pray, Westfall and Morse, and Misses Lowry, Hummel, Westfall and Morse. None of them have as yet become millionaires, but all are gaining in this world's goods.

Wm. Seaton secured a certificate in one of the Western counties and expects to teach if he can secure a school. Earl McShea has been recuperating his wasted energies in Chapman. He will begin his tussle with geometry Chas- Murphy has spent his summer in the cheese factory at Hiawatha. Otis Landis will remain in Abilene as bookkeeper of the Shockey Hardware Co.

District 109 has been fortunate enough to secure Harvey Frey as teacher. Willis and Jacob Minnick spent the summer in Topeka. Jacob will teach this fall. Sept. 1st Lida Gafney will bring her two brothers with her this summer.
