Hass of Western Kansas. The bride and groom stood with joined hand in' the presence of their many friends and relatives and there remained standing till they were pronounced husband and wife. Mr, Hass is a stranger iu this community having been here only a few days. He has lived in western Kansas for eighteen, years, where with his father aud brothers he has been extensively engaged iii farming, stock raising, and merchandising. As the young couple stood before the parson they looked the true husband and wife, he a perfect type of manhood showing in bis face that he meant all he said in taking the marriage vow, and that he was able and willing to tae care of the woman that stood by his side, and the bride looked as tender as a May flower, willing to trust him with her future life, as the tender vine clings to.

Cprtwright, the evangelist is teaching the verbal inspiration of the word of God in such a plain and interesting way that even the little child can understand his meaning. Montgomery and his mother, visited in Parsons, over Sabbath. Messrs Green and Dunn shipped a car load of hogs to Kansas City, Monday. Our Girard correspondent did not each us in time for publication. Mr. and Mrs.

J. S. Fair recieyed a beautiful wedding invitation, from Mr. and Mrs. 'T.

A. Reynolds, of Nehawka, Nebraska, to tho marriage of their daughter, Miss Martha A. Reynolds to Mr. James VanTine, December 29th' 1897. Miss Martha A.

Reynolds is a sister of Mrs. J. S. Fair of this place. Owing to poor health.

Mrs. Fair will not be able to attend. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fair has been quite sick for a few days, but we are glad to say that she is better.

R. D. Hall, of Oklahoma arrived in our city, where he will remain' for a short time, on a visit with relatives and friends. II. D.

Hall left for Missouri, "where he will visit friends until the New year. Rev. H. Dolson was visiting with Mr. Cranston and family last Tuesdav night.

Quite a number of youtg people from town had a very pleasant time at the home of Mr. and Alex Ross, on last Tuesday evening, indulging in social chat and music'. Refreshments were served consisting of popcorn balls, nuts, fruit doughnuts aud coffee, after which a taffy pulling was indulged in, and at a late hour the guests departed for home, having spent a very pleasant evening. Oscar Ward and vife, of Parsons, visited with relatives in this city Born to Mr, and Mrs. Frank Miller, of this, city, a daughter.1 Being called papa seems quite unatural to Fiank, but he will get use to it, hey all do.

Miss Anna Dillin, treated her pupils to candy and nuts, which the little foalks enjoyed immensley, and wished Christmas time came oftener. all through life. After the marriage rite came congratulations and good1 wishes, from all present. After that all sat down to cneof the most bountiful sup-' pers ever looked upon or sampled. After partaking to our full capasity, a few hours were spent in social chat, then the goests departed to their respective homes') leaving their best wishes with the farnjly On Tuesday December 2lst.

Gowin, of McCune! also Mrs. Renner aud son Fred, dropDed in and dined with the aged couple, where another day was spent, feasting, laughing and talkiug till late in the after-noon, when all took their departure, leaving Mr. and Mrs. Gowin to enjoy the quiet of their home, And I wish to say to all that contemplate geting married soon, it would be well to step in while the watery are troubled, and give Rev. Dolson a chance for he knows what to say, and knows when he has said it.

Hector. S. -W. Copes, has been under the weath er for the past few days. Mrs.

A. T. Calhoun, was a plesant caller at our office, Tuesday morning. As we stood in the crowd and waited for our turn to come, in the store of Mattox Son. last Thursday, we could not help but think what a similarity there was in that store and a big city store on a "bargain day," as the clerss passed U3 going here and there waiting on the custo mers as they came and went.

Eut every day is a bargain day at the Mattox store, as they make you the lowest possible Will Long, spent Sabbath in Girard, pnd came home Monday evening. Al. Jones was arrested last Wednesday, charged with runing a gaming table. He pleaded not guilty and the hearing of the case was set for January 3d. Clark Conley, general commercial agent for the Memphis and also the brother-in law ot our townsman Mr.

J. Copes, visited here this week. Miss Mattie Harley, came home Sunday from a short visit with her sister, ia Parsons, I price for cash..
