1 FRESHMEN NOTES The Freshmen entertained the Sophomores and the faculty at a weinie roast and lunch at Ion's creek. At a meeting of the Freshman class, red and white was chosen for the class colors. The English I class is: studying Shakespear's "Merchant of Venice." The Freshmen are taking an interest in science now and it is hoped they will continue to do so. A certain Latin I student has not returned to school since vacation. We hope he is not ill.

SOPHOMORE, NOTES The Classes A few. of the Sophomores attended a birthday party given at Harry Norton's October sixth. Teacher: I wish you would leave gum out of your mouth. Pupil: Mine is too long. Teacher: Cut out part of it.

The Blue Bird Sunday School Class sold popcorn on Saturday October seventh. 7.. A few in our class forgot. how to study during vacation and didn't have their lessons on Monday. Ted McCall's black eye is all right we suppose he will get the other one blackened now.

Lucille Shirley was absent from school one- day last week on account 4of sickness. ban wow students should have a dairy connected with the school to feed some of our students. GRADE NOTES FIRST AND SECOND GRADES Misses Jane Collins and Myrtle Peterson of Concordia visited our room October twelfth. We have had four new pupils since the first of the term, but have lost two during the last month. THIRD AND FOURTH GRADES Mss Nell Moffett visited our room October third.

We have lost two pupils, Robert Mann, and Dorothy Parson. The Third and Fourth grades are making a collection of leaves, soil and seeds. Harvey Rourkles holds the record for not missing a spelling word since the first of the term, and Garth Olson has only missed one. FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADES Five boys attended the football game at Concordia Wednesday October eighteenth. We have lost three pupils.

Charlotte Lewis, Erma Mann and Lora Parson. The Fifth and Sixth grades are going to have a supper Hallowe'en night. Kady-McDonald. Miss Elsie Kady of Jamestown and Mr. Howard Glen McDonald were married Wednesday October eleventh. The wedding was performed by Rev. Parrott at the home of the bride.

Kady was graduated from J. H. S. in 1915. Later she attended school in Kansas City, where she was graduated as a trained nurse.

McCullough-Lundblade. Miss Nina Elizabeth McCullough of Belleville and Mr. Leon Lundblade were married October fourteenth at Clay Center. Mr. Lundblade was graduated from J.

H. S. in 1916. Then attended K. U.

where he was graduated, a full fledged lawyer. Later he was admitted to the state bar. He is now the Republican nominee for County Attorney of Cloud county. Schulte-Herbin. Miss Bertha Schulte of Marysville and Mr.

Leon A. Herbin of Jamestown were married Thursday October twenty-sixth at Marysville. Mr. Herbin was graduated from J. H.

S. in 1910. At the present time he is at the head of the State Bank of Ames. Freshman-Sophomore On October fifteenth the Sophomores were invited to a picnic given by the Freshies. They were well chaperoned by the high school teachers, Mrs.

Blackney and Mr. Chaney. At about four thirty they left the school house for Ion's creek in a hay rack. After an hour of games they ate their supper which consisted of roasted wieners and watermelons. They returned late in the evening.

The minister was delivering an extra long sermon, when suddenly a young wife remembered she had left the gas turned on at home. She hurriedly wrote a note and handed it to her husband who was an usher, and he thinking it was meant for the minister, walked up and laid it on the pulpit. The minister paused in his sermon and took the note with a smile which changed to a frown as soon as he read, "Please hurry home and shut off the gas." Dr. C. R.

JUNIOR NOTES Most of the Junior class have season tickets for the Lyceum Course this year. Avril Caraveau was absent a few mornings last week on account of her mother being in the hospital at Concordia. The few Juniors in the Physics class seem to find It rather difficult. Our reporter has been absent the last week. The members of the English III class are being prepared for public speakers or editors, as we have two minute speeches at least once a week.

Mabel Nelson was absent part of the week on account of sickness. in her home. Our bookeeping teacher encourages us by telling us that we will. soon be able to fill a position as bookkeeper in one of the local stores. SENIOR MYSTERIES "Several of the senior girls have taken up the latest fad and have purchased some ten cent earrings.

A few of the students have started pulling the seats up in the high school room for amusement, not realizing the extra work they are causing our already overworked janitor. A certain freshman boy has taken a great interest in the General Science class, since he received instructions from his teacher Monday morning. The football game at Concordia last Wednesday was well attended by the Jamestown students. Two of our senior boys have decided "to quit football on acoount of a bad case of buck ague.
