Reynolds returned to Highland ast Friday, He has been clerking in Mr. Levine's clothing store. Keever Wharton returned to Kansas City Sunday. He is attending a business college there. Messrs Lee aud Holdin of Lincoln who have been visiting Otis Wilfong returned Tuesday.

Prof. S. Z. Sharp of Plattsburg, Baptist church in good standing, and has a host of friends here who are ready to welcome him and his bride and wish them a happy journey through life. Mr.

and Mrs. O'Gara entertained Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Winkles, Mr.

and Mrs. Adkins and Miss Ada, Thursday. The committee of the Bethany Sunday school met Sunday after church and chose the teachers for the Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs.

Mussleman gave a dinner New Year's day to Mr. and Mrs. Straub, Mr. and Mrs. Adkins and Miss.

Ada, Mrs. A. J. Greenwalt entertained at dinner Thursday, Mesdames Hinton, Allerton, Shelton, Gaston, Whistler, Straub and A. R.

Smith. Mrs. Frank Shelton was agreeably surprised New Year's day by Mrs. John Walker, John Weaver and wife and Mr. arid Mrs.

Dave Shelton, bringing in their baskets well laden with good things to spend the day. Morrill C. H. Marion was visiting in Morrill Wednesday. is conducting a Bible normal at the German Baptist church.

A. Cottrell of Powhattan was in Morrill Wednesday. He has been visiting with his brother in Iowa. Hamlin Dr. Taylor sold his sheep to Frank Kern.

Gill Berkley is having a large barn built. Mrs. Benedick is visiting- in Salem, Nebraska. Delia Gaston visited Mrs. Betty Smith Monday.

J. W. Adkins purchased a new buggy of A. W. Scrimk.

L. Reagan is dangerously ill with typhoid pneumonia. Mrs. Sweeney will leave soon for a visit at Grand Island: Mr. Krebs has built a new summer kitchen and cob shed Mrs.

Elvira Gaston visited Mrs. Delia Gaston last week. Levi Smith is shipping baled hay to a firm in Kansas City. Mr. L.

E. Harding sold a heating stove to A. W. Schrimk. Pearl Gaston of Morrill has been visiting relatives in Hamlin.

E. P. Gaston was transacting business in Hiawatha Saturday. Mrs. Fream Grover is assisting Geo.

Winkles in the harness shop. Mr. Tuttle'is visiting friends and relatives in Jewell county. A. W.

Schrimk and wife entertained his parents from Iowa last week. Mr. Sterns of Hiawatha was transacting business in Hamlin Wednesday. Mrs. Samuel Cook's brother from LeadviUe, has been visiting Henry Bealy left Wednesday on an extended trip through Washington and California.

He hopes to improve his health by this trip. Dr. Tindall has permanently located here. We bespeak for him a good patronage as Morrill has long felt the need of a dentist. R.

A. Diehl has purchased C. L. Hoovers livery barn. Mr.

Hoover has bought 320 acres in Oklahoma md will move there the first of March. D. A. Lichty was a Hamlin visitor Mrs. McMillan was absent from the Saturday.

Dr. Shelton is in Kansas City visiting the hospitals and posting up on special work. school room two days this week owing to an attack of the grippe. Her place was filled by Miss Edna Scott. Charlie Eisenbise, who has been at tending school at McPherson, returned home last Monday to accept a position with a hardware and furniture firm in Fairview.

Faine Collawn has an appointment as second teamster on the Dawes com mission with a salary of $30 a month and expenses. He expects to take charge of his work about the first of them. C. Jones purchased 80 acres of land of Mrs. Elvira Gaston north of Hamlin.

The Hamlin Cornet Band played for Mr. and Mrs. J. A Brockhoff Wednesday evening. Miss Thompson and Ernest Shelton attended the play at Falls City Tuesday evening, J.

A. Brockhoff and wife drove over to Hiawatha Wednesday to select their furniture. Elias Berkley presented hi wife with a handsome concert roller organ for Christmas. Mrs. Durwiu of Kansas City is visiting Mrs.

R. C. Berkley, Wm. Stapel-ton and other relatives. Mr.

and Mrs. Talbert of near Hiawatha were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dickinson Sunday. On account of so much sickness the Love Feast at the Bethany church was postponed till Sunday eve, Feb.

3, 1901. Miss Dora Garnett of Rossville, and James Fike of Hamlin, were united in marriage last week. Mr. Fike is one of our most industrious young men. Is a memler of the PURE DELICIOUSNESS.

-o- March. Germantown Rufus Huffman is visiting friends in this vicinity. John McCreary was doing business in this locality Friday. Wm. Legg delivered corn at Baker Thursday and Friday.

John and Carl Winterscheidt have been sick with La Grippe. John. Gibbson is working in, H. E. Jacque's blacksmith shop.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Legg visited at Theodore Jones' over Sunday. John Winterscheidt shelled corn for Jake Winterscheidt Friday and Saturday.

Budd Legg while shelling corn Thursday got one of his hands caught in a cogwheel and had three bones broken. Leotta Tinsley of Willis, spent last week with her aunt Mrs. Maud Sthal.
