6 THE HIAWATHA BEE January 3, 1901 County Correspondence he has a position as foreman in a large undertaking establishment. Rev. Clard' and wife are visiting Mr. Shaner's. Mr.

Kepner has bought out Jim Thomas, our pump man. Clark Moore has sold his elevator to R. D. Sheldon of Narka, Republic county. Presiding Elder Zimmerman, held services at the Methodist church Sunday evening.

The Congregational people held a social and watch meeting at the church New Years Eve. Arthur Patton is visiting in Horton. Tine Smith of Severance, is visiting his brother Rufe of this place. Mrs. Broad, a woman preacher from Topeka, preached at the Congregational church Sunday evening.

Miss Christa Kinnear entertained a few friends Monday evening in honor of Miss Arra who is home from Baldwin University. Willow Grove and Carson Skating is fine. Rabbits have been suffering since the snow. Revival at the Evangelical church this week. Miss Lena Small is visiting at Clutter's.

Howard Alters shelled corn Wednesday. A. Dannenberg now has his broncho broke to ride. Miss Gertrude Manerd has been visiting at Carother's. Geigers visited at Dannenbergs Saturday and Sunday.

Chas. Fields sports a new double harness and buggy team. A small crowd gathered at Dannen-berg's Friday night. They a pleasant time. Hamlin Burl Burdick was on our streets Thursday.

Jim Hurst of Carson paid our town a call Thursday. Mrs. Levi Wallace has been visiting at Blair Syster's. Sam Buckley visited his sister, Mrs. Jess Grover Friday.

O. A. Sandusky Sr. of St. Joseph, paid our town a visit.

Miss Pearl Hiberger visited Mrs. Levi Wallace Saturday. Mr. Haggen purchased Mary Barne's property in Hamlin. Chester Adkins and Arthur Berkley visited Wallace Chaffee Friday.

Mrs. Whistler drove over to the county seat the last of the week. Mr. Hess and the guests of Mrs. Krebs one day last week.

Charles Dilley of Iowa, is visiting his cousins, Misses Blanche and May Dilley. Miss Tompson and Earl Shelton attended the play at Falls City Thursday eve. Mr. and Mrs. F.

J. Smith attended Masonic banquet at Hiawatha Thursday eve. Prof. Spangler, wife and daughter, Hazel, returned to their home in Robinson Thursday. Mr.

and Mrs. Walter Fuller spent Christmas with their parents Mr. and Mrs. John Fuller in Hiawatha. Operator Whistler and wife entertained Mr.

Scott and wife and Miss Flora, Ernest Shelton and Perry Germantown A shooting- match at Germantown last Saturday. Martin Schilling and children are visiting" in Atchison. John Werner is visiting- friends and relatives in this Messrs. Pearl and Carl Legg are visiting- relatives near Padonia. Mr.

Atwood of Powhattan, was a caller in this vicinity Friday. John Walters of Dunlap, Missouri, visited with Wm. Leg-g-s last week. Quite a number of our people attended Midnight Mass at Horton New Years Eve. Mr.

Buckstin of Missouri, visited with his cousin Mrs. Jess Maxwell last week. Tim Schilling-of Hiawatha, spent a few days last week with his cousin Martin Schilling-. Perry and August Horwedel and son Frank of Vermont, Illinois have been visiting with Mr. Wm.

Legg. The new alter at the St. Peter's Catholic Church was dedicated last Sunday. Father Medstaff and Father Potigeeser assisted Father Hildebrand in the services. Powhattan Mr.

Patton's moved to town this week. Dr. Charles Andrews is home from Kansas City. Alfred Seitz spent last week in St. Joe with relatives.

Stella Bollinger from Everest is visiting Miss Edna Miller. Stewart Rife is remodeling his house and building more on. Miss Nannie Bartley entertained a few friends Saturday evening. Mrs. S.

S. Holcomb is visiting her brother in Washington county. Miss Maine Patton of Hiawatha, spent Sunday with Miss Jo Donley. Daisy Holcomb has returned from spending the holidays in Lawrence. Tom Fletcher and family are visiting his sister Mrs.

D. Bender at Whiting. E. ET Wood burn has sold his furniture business to Mr. Kepner.
