LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. AUGUSt THE POPULIST STATE CONVENTION WILL BE MELD AT THE ABOVE TIME AND PLACE. The populist state central committee met at Topeka Saturday, and decided to hold the state convention at Abilene. The convention will begin Wednesday, August 5th, and will last a-bout three days. Six hundred delegates will be present, besides scores of John Rumold Sr.

I John Rumold Jr. went to Kansas City with two carloads of stock Wed-- nesday. Milton H. Morrill, a former resident 'of this neighborhood, is running a pa-i per at Morgan City, La. Several other towns asked for the convention, among them being Salina, Emporia and Hutchinson.

The convention to select delegates to the national convention will be held at Hutchinson, but that will be a Very small and insignificant affair. WORKMEN HAVE A SUPPER. The -United Workmen lodge had a supper in the school houselfriday evening. Sixteen visitors from Gypsum City and Herington were present and the evening was a very enjoyable one. The Dillon lodge is one of the largest in the county.

Mr. George Klover has moved his watch-repairing establishment to this place from Woodbine and is located at Janicke's store. Persons desiring their watches, clocks and jewelry repaired should call on him. An exchange says a newspaper clipping can be easiest secured with a pin point and that it beats scissors or knife. A school entertainment will be given in Reaugh's hall at Banner City this evening.
