Mitchell is on the sick list. Mrs. Eliza Medley is visiting with her son, Jesse and family, at Elmo. W. H.

Tolbert has joined the Carlton Military Band. J. C. Bogart was an Abilene visitor, yesterday. Mrs.

S. R. High was a Hope visitor, Monday. David Major Jr. returned from a trip to last Sunday evening.

Harve Tolbert drove to Abilene, the first of the week. August Brendt spent Monday, in Abilene, returning, to Carlton, Monday evening. Chris. Hubele, of Gypsum. was trading in our little city, Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry Perdue and Mrs. Ireland were Gypsum visitors. Monday.

Miss Olive Swisher visited friends at Gypsum, this week. Willis Baxter was a Herington visitor, last Saturday. Frank Gerth and daughter are here visiting with Otto Gerth and family. F. W.

Muench and family were in Carlton, visiting friends, last Sunday. Mrs. A. T. Medley has been visiting relatives, at Elmo for several days.

The Ladies Aid will not meet tomorrow. Their next meeting will be January, 2nd'09 C. Z. Swisher spent Sunday, with Gypsum friends and relatives. Mrs.

Thos. Mitchell had dentist work done at Hope, last Saturday. Oliver and Lee Comer were plastering near Bonicord, a few days last week. Geo. Tischhauser, of Elmo, was in town, on business, last Saturday.

L. B. Husted has been working out near Solomon, for several days. Miss Minnie Curtis, teacher of the primary department in our city schools, is spending her vacation at her home, in Dunlap, Kansas. Watch for Santa Claus tomorrow night.

Geo. Roggendorff, of Holland, marketed wheat at the elevator here, Thursday. Robt. Currie and wife, of Gypsum was in town, last Wednesday. Miss Kate Abberton is home again to spend Xmas with homefolks.

John Bovey was a Carlton caller, from Holland, Thursday. E. P. Deardorff marketed hogs in our hustling little city, Thursday. Mrs.

S. R. High was a passenger to Herington, on the Saturday morning train. Zack Raffenberger, of Elmo was in town doing business, Wednesday. F.

D. Jones was a pleasant caller from Holland, to Carlton, Wednesday. J. F. Baxter shipped a car of hogs, from here last Thursday.

D. W. Emig, of Holland, hauled a load of wheat to the Carlton market, last Friday. Geo. Crandall, of Gypsum, was doing business in our little city, Saturday.

Fred Bross was in from Holland, on business, last Friday. T. E. Robson transacted business in Carlton, last Thursday. Henry Cannon went to visit relatives and friends, at Kansas City, last Saturday.

Fred miller has moved his family into the French property, until he finds another location. Dr. Graves and wife, of Holland, who have been visiting in Freeport, are at home again, after several weeks absence. Prof. W.

H. Stewart went home, to Salina, Friday evening, to spend the holiday vacation. H. O. Patterson and family left for their new home at Weatherford, last Sat- Lowell Tolbert has accepted the position of operator with the Carlton Telephone Co.

Social, last Tuesday evening, was quite well attended and about eighteen dollars was cleared. On account of the cloudy, dark night a great many were not able to be out. Miss Helen Scott, teacher in District 77. is spending a weeks vacation, with home folks, at Herington. Invitations are out for the marriage of Geo.

W. Hutchison and Hattie J. Marlatt. Dec. 30, 1908.

President Marty and Secretary Olson. of the Farmers Mutual Telephone were in our city, from Upland, last Friday. Henry Rutz and wife left for Ring wood, last Thursday, for a visit during the holidays. Miss Pearl French, who is attending school in Salina, is home spending the holidays. Mr.

and Mrs. H. A. Jones and family left for two months visit with their son, F. E.

Jones of Childress, Texas. Charles Hartman came up from Lyons, Kansas, last Sunday, to visit home folks, near Holland. Simon Beetch received a fine new gasoline engine, which he will enstall on his farm, north of this city. Chauncy Hunter came out from Abilene, Monday, to spend a few days with friends here. Services at the church next Sunday will be: Sunday School at 10:30, Bible Class at 11:30 C.

E. at 7 o'clock and preaching at 8 o'clock. Tomorrow night is Christmas eve and the Sunday School will have a program and tree at the church. Everybody welcome. Notice to Hunters.

The season for shooting quail expired December 14th. Any one shooting quail out of season will be prosecuted. City marshals and constables attention is called to section 18, of the game laws. R. G.

Mrs. C. Z. Swisher and daughters, Helen and Carol, went to Salina, Monday evening, to visit relatives a few days. Strayed or Stolen.

From the Mitchell farm east of Carlton, on Dec. 9th in the day time, 9 turkeys weighing about in all 100 lbs. A good reward will be given for their return to us. Wm. and Thos.

Mitchell. Van Horn- -Howie. At the residence of the brides parents, near Carlton, Kansas; Ransler P. VanHorn and Elizabeth Belle Howie were married at noon, Dec. 16, Rev.

Henry C. Brown officiating. A large number of friends were present, a fine dinner was served and the occasion was enjoyed by all. The presents were fine and well selected, and a few pictures valued at from five to ten dollars to carry in the pocket-book. Marlatt-Hutchison.

At the Presbyterian Mance, in Carlton, Kansas; Harrison S. Marlatt and Edith B. Hutchison were married at 7 p. Dec. 16.

Rev. Henry C. Brown officiating. Both families of relatives were present. Two of our most substantial and valued young people have embarked for the voyage of life together.

We wish them a prosperous journey. Mrs. Mary Mason, a former citizen of this vicinity, died at her home, in Gypsum, last Thursday morning, after a long illness. The funeral services were held in the M. E.
