Ed. Vidette. In your issue of March 13th, I notice an article entitled "Another lie nailed." For the benefit of all concerned, I will say that the writer of that article Is laboring under some mistakes. His defamation of the editor of the Vidkttk was unfair and unmanly, and quite out of iilace. He (the frisky editor of the Chero-cee Banner) says he knows Mr.

Goul to be a good man, that no one can say ever heard him utter a profane We hope he is just such a man as represented. The drunken spree oceured just as stated in the Vidette, except tliat the whisky was drunk after it had been brought to the school house. I can see no difference in the item in the Vipkttk and that in the Banner. The whisky was brought to school house by men as Mr. Goul says, one of whom had children at school.

As to any of the children and teacher's imbibing freely, is false, ns teacher and pupils were in the house engaged in spelling with the exception of George Goul who was outside drunk. If there was any other pupil out, 1 have not been informed. Mr. Wilson, by the advice of Mr. John May, a patron of the school, closed the door for the of keeping out the boistrous rowd.

Mr. Goul coming to the door, demanded admittance, but did not allow sufficient time for the door to be opened for hini but kicked out a pannel, broke (the door open and entered using very profane and ugly language which every person in the room heard. The assertion that most of his neighbors upheld him in this act is not correct. We do not blame him for taking offense at his son being intoxleafced, but we do condemn liis entering the house as he did. I will say "Frisky" that 1 did not bring suit against Air.

Goul nor did two of the directors refuse to have anything to do with it. But I was prepared tc bring suit, had we upon consultation concluded. Our farmers have been busy during the fine weather lUrough March, but the rain of the 28th undZJlk put a stop to all the farm work.
