Smalley. Appointment of committees on advertising, transportation, finance and immigration was deferred until Friday morning. On motion, convention went into a committee of the whole for general discussion as to methods to be pursued in using money raised by the society. Adjourned until 0 a. Friday.

Friday morning at 10 a. the meeting was called to order. The chairman announced the following standing committees Finance A. Darroch, Coldwater 13. B.

J. Johnson, Sawyer. On motion of N. E. Sisson, secretary was instructed-to furnish proceedings of this conveution to each vice-president of the society, and to Wichita, To-peka and Kansas City papers also all papers along the line of the C.

K. W. railroad also to have circulars printed giving these proceeding and embodying in them an invitation to other towns on our railroad to co-operate with this society and meet with it at the next meeting on. April 19th. An informal ballot as to place of next meeting resulted in Ashland being Chosen.

Society then adjourned to meet in Ashland, April 10th, at which time reports of committees will be heard and other important business transacted. It is desired that all who can conveniently do so, attend this meeting and help on in the good work of properly advertising our towns and counties and showing the superior advantages of our climate and soil. It was unanimously resolved to ask the citizens of all towu3 and counties on said line of road to co-operate with this society in promoting the welfare of the country traversed and it is earnestly requested that each citizen consti-stute himself a committee of one to at. tend the next meeting of the society at Ashland, Kansas, on Thursday, April 19th, 1888. In behalf of the society, all interested in the project are invited and expected to be present.

3 J. W. Hughey tells us he has got his carp pond completed and will soon transfer his carp to it. The Goodrich ranch is to be one of the finest places in Kansas. We are to have a new county commissioner elected this fall, for this district.

We would suggest David Kay for the position. He is both honest and competent. J. W. Hughey has a 1530 pound horse for sale not a blemish on him and is 'J years old.

Also has other good work and driving horses for sale at the Goodrich ranch. Every rain makes crop prospects that much better. ever in the world was there a better prospect for a crop at this stage of the crop game, than there is in southern Kansas. Oats in this section are up and stool-ing out and farmers are preparing to cut corn is up and ready to cultivate while over in Missouri they are just plantings This is a grand country. I hereby warn all persons against cutting wood in what is known as the Canyon pasture, of the Goodrich Cattle company.

Eeynolds landed home Mon day from the Panhandle. He says that the story of the vigilantes having hnng all of the Chitwoods is all false but that Geo. Montgomery was hung in a sod building at Neutral City. All persons desiring information concerning town propei ty or land in the south-west part of Pratt county or north-west part of Barber county, will do well to call on or address Hughey Merritt, Springvale, Pratt county, Kan. I will pay $5 reward for proof and conviction of the parties that went through the fence on the east side of what is known as the Haverd pasture of the Goodrich Cattle Co.

J. W. IIi'oiiey, Manager. Wolf hunting is becoming great sport up about Sun City, and is made so from the fact that the varmints have been killing considerable young stock. On Thursday of last week Tom Botting, Johnny Ilowley, Will Argus, Frank Lockert and others went out, found the den and killed a cub, and on Fri- eay last went after the old ones.

We have not yet heard the report from the last chase. Report of Proceedings had at a Meeting of Representatives of Different Towns and Counties along the Line of C. K. W. Railroad from Mulvane to Englewood.

Meeting held at Coldwater, Kansas, April 12th. 1888 object of the meeting was to form an organization to induce immigration and promote the general interests of the territory included in the organization. The name of the organization formed is "The Osage Reserve Immigration Society." Pursuant to a call, delegates from various places along the line of the C. K. W.

railroad, met at the City Hall at Coldwater, on Thursday April 12, 1S88, where the following proceedings were enacted Meeting was called to order by W. A. Templeman. John J. Shields, of Ashland, was made temporary chairman, and S.

D. Stipp, of Coldwater, temporary secretary. Benj. Ilowarth, president of the Coldwater Board of Trade, then addressed the meeting, stating the object for which it was called. On motion of N.

E. Sisson, a committee of three were appointed on credentials, consisting of Messrs. Sisson, of Coldwater, E. R. Smalley, of Spivey, and C.

E. Ilerron, of Ashland. On motion of W. A. Templeman a committee of three was appointed on constitution and by-laws, consisting of W.

A. Templeman, Coldwater, John P. Jones, Coldwater, and II. W. Brown, of Spivey.

Benj. Ilowarth, A. Darroch and J. J. Shields were appointed a committed on permanent organization.

On motion, adjourned until 4:30 to give committee time to make up report. Meeting called to order again at 4:30. Committee on credentials, made report. Report adopted and committee discharged. Committee on permanent organization reported.

For president, W. A. Templeman; vice-president, E. R. Smalley, Spivey secretary, J.

Snod-grass, Ashland treasurer, Vernon J. Miller. Report adopted and committee discharged. Mr. Templeman took the chair.

Temporary secretary was continued for this meeting. Mr. Snodgrass not being present. Motion by Mr. Shields, that constitution and by-laws be taken up by sections and adopted.

Mr. Sission moved to amend by adopting several sections at once by reading till objections was made and then stop for discussion. Carried. Motion by Mr. Snields to amend motion as it now stands, so that each article of the constitution and by-laws be read seperately and adopted as read.

Carried. On reading first article after some discussion, the name for the association was made "The Kansas Osage Reserve Immigration Society." The constitution and by-laws were then adopted, article by article with some amendments and substitutes to original report. Constitution and by-laws were then adopted as a whole. On motion of N. E.

Sisson, delegates from Ashland were instructed to present names for temporary vice-president to act with executiye committee Coldwater delegates to name vice-president for Coldwater Spivey to name vice-president for Spivey to report at' evening meeting. On motion of Mr. Ilerron, from Ashland, a committee consisting of Messrs. Shields, Sisson and Darroch, were appointed to draft plans for proceeding with the work of the society, and report at the evening session. On motion adjourned for one hour to assemble at city council room after supper to hear report of committee on plans and for further discussion.

Evening session called to order at 8 r. 5i. Mr. Shields of committee on plans reported that $1,000 was necessary as a fund for commencing operations, said $1,000 to be raised by apportionment between the different towns. Said apportionment was recommended to be made as follows Coldwater and Comanche county, 30 per cent Ashland and Clark county, 30 per cent; Spivey and.

Englewood, each 15 per cent, and Sawyer 10 per cent. After considerable discussion and several amendments and substitutions, the apportinment as agreed upon was Comanche county, $400 Clark county, $100, to be raised in Englewood and Ashland Englewood to pay $150 and Ashland $250 Sawyer and Spivey each $100.
