THE WASHBURN WEEKLY REVIEW. Cottages. Much excitement was aroused bv their actions and even the city people telephoned out to the College to find out the cause of the excitement. Dick Rodgers has organized a company of K. U.

volunteers and has tendered their services to the Govenor. Coach Wylie Woodruff is also considering the orginization of a company. Tuesday a large mass meeting of K. U. students was held and addresses were made by Chancellor Snow and J.

Willis Gleed. They counselled moderation. Any Senior who desires to leave can receive his diploma, but only Seniors are advised to go. Campbell University is also aroused and threatens to send a regiment of volunteers. Charlie Rice, ex-'9S, will go to war if he can.

In the evening, after the debate; we paid our respects to the Ornery Weyler, who used to kill the Cubans. A large image, portraying exactly each and every coarse feature-found in the face of the original, was hung by the neck. A large, roaring fire was built underneath, just as the audience left the debate. Amid cries and shouts for and independence and "speech" the wretch ended his life on earth. Saturday, the feeling was something similar to a volcano which threatens to burst forth at any minute.

All watched for the news. The services of fifty Washburn students were tendered to the Governor by Professor Harsh-barger and Cunningham. Sunday, the veterans of the legislative war paraded the streets and waited for news. At the first rumor of the organization of a new company, one could see Washburnites coming in from all companies to enlist, with the understand- ing that this company was positively the first company that wrould be sent to the front and that this would be the first to commence drawing pay. The Whitin Hall boys, chaperoned by Gunningham, were so anxious that in their anxiety they even went to North To-peka to see if some newspaper had not been started up to furnish news.

Holiday, T. H. Bain, one of Topeka's lawyers, was out getting recruits for the Leedy A large number volunteered for service. War Nevvx Tuesday evening the Whitin Hall boys paraded up and down and after numerous courtmartials, proceeded to salute to the How They Stand Won. Lost.
