Haggett went to Atchison Sunday to fill the pulpit at the Baptist church, which was made vacant by Rev. Dr. Conner coming to Hiawatha to make the baccalaureate address for the Academy.

People who heard Dr. Conner say that it was the best lecture they ever heard. Miss Eleanor Arnold went to Leavenworth Tuesday to attend the Christian Convention of the First district which is in session there this week. She is a delegate from the Endeavor of the Christian church of Hiawatha and will give an address Tuesday evening. Thirty seven Episcopalians came down from Falls City to attend service at the Episcopal church in Hiawatha.

Rev. Smith of Falls City conducted the services. The visiting people were entertained at the Moceland Sunday evening by the ladies of the Episcopal ehurch. Look out for a big Sunday School Convention in the Bethany Reformed church June 19th at p. m.

also in the evening at the Christian and Salem Evangelical churches at 8 p. m. All are cordially invited to these services. Good speakers and excellent music. Miss Glenn McIIugh left Monday for Kansas City where she will enter University Hospital to become a trained nurse.

She will graduate in two years. Her friends are confident of her success. Misses Lizzie Shade), Pearle Seaman and Bonnie Love went to Falls City Sunday to meet Miss Shadel's neice and nephew who they expected from Cal. But they did not arrive until Monday. Rev.

Baxter Waters left Monday for Leavenworth to attend the Christian convention of the North Eastern Kansas. He will preach the first sermon and will return home Wednesday. George Davis, who has been in the Indian Territory for a fewr weeks came up Monday to spend a few days at home. He likes the work there but does not like the country. Miss Vera Shane, the art teacher at the Academy, will spend the summer in the Adirondack mountains.

She will stop a week in St. Louis to take in the exposition. Zack Benfer is visiting his brother H. H. Ben-fer.

He has been in-Michigan all winter and will spend the summer there and expects to spend the winter in Florida. Miss Maude Chamberlin leaves Monday for New York' where she will meet her mother and sister. They will spend the summer in the east and on the lakes. Carl Wood of Topeka visited his aunt, Mrs. Charlie Ljimme Saturday.

He left Tuesday for Brussels. Belgium where he will study violin for two years. Mrs. E. Hove returned home Monday from Sycamore Springs where she hasjjbeen for a few weeks on account of ill health.

fShe is somewhat improved. Misses May and Stella Weltmer came upjfrom Robinson Saturday to spend Sunday with their parents. They clerk in the Weltmer store in Robinson. "Miss Kate Allison is the new clerk at Terreo's restaurant. Carl Bates spent Sunday in Leavenworth.

Will Zimmerman spent Monday in Kansas City. All of the K. LPs will be home the last of the week. L. S.

Garlock has had a relapse and is seriously ill. Irving Curry visited relatives at Stella, Sunday. Jim Haver went to Omaha Tuesday on a business trip. Capt. Herman and Roy Jacques went to Baker Monday on business.

Fred Rea is home from Lawrence where he has 'been attending school. Miss Eleanor Arnold is visiting relatives in Washington, Kansas. The supreme court has decided to hear the Anthony contest case. Miss Iva Wolf wTent to Horton Monday for a extended visit with friends. Dan Watson of Reserve was in town Friday shaking hands with his friends.

Miss Maude Rarkus went to Troy Monday to attend the Doniphan Institute. Mrs. John Wonders went to Kansas City Tuesday to visit Mrs. James Allen. Mr.and Mrs.

M. E. Yost went to St. Louis Saturday to take in the exposition. Mrs.

Mert Neff is visiting her sister-in-law Mrs. Will Zimmerman in Kansas City. Walter Shaw spent Saturday with his mother and Sunday in Sabetha with friends. Pearle Moser is very sick. She had typhoid ast fall and has never fully recovered.

Miss Ethel and Elizabeth aud Charlie Lamme left Tuesday to visit relatives in Holton. Charlie Weeks is spending his week's vacation in Kansas City the guest of Rob Ammon. Mr. and Mrs Jim Moyer left Tuesday for Clay Center for a short visit with friends and relatives. Chyde Ferguson is the possessor of a very swell rubber tired turn out which he bought of C.

H. Munsell. Mrs. Weaver and Miss Nellie Boyd left Tuesday for Bacer, Kansas where they will make their future home. Rev.

Haggett who is the pastor of the Baptist church of Hiawatha has resigned and will preach in Des Moines, la. Grover Bates of Beaumont, Texas is visiting his parents. He is working for his brother, Robert who has charge of men in the oil fields. Mrs. Beaulia and daughter of Fall? City spent Saturday aird Sunday with Mrs.

A. Slack. They went to Sabetha Monday for a short visit with friends. Prof. Hanney will shortly move to Auburn.
