It covers 122 pages of printed matter and the Register of Deeds was paid $40 for recording it. This is a pick-up for him, as it required no writing the pages being all gummed on one side and in perfect shape for placing on the records. The mortgage covers all the property of the Rock Island in Kansas and Iowa, and must be recorded in every county through which the road pases.

Justice's Court. The following cases came up for hearing in Justice Calnan's court this wreek: The preliminary hearing of Henry McAleer, charged with the murder of F. Evans in Horton in 1889, was continued until May 7. The case of Will Hinton vs. Dr.

Erwin was settled by agreement on payment of $G3 and C0St8. Dr. A. Leigh vs. James Leibengood, plaintiff recovered judgment for $78.50.

Appealed. The following new cases have been filed: Mi chaelMaeislin vs. Wm.Weininger; First National Bank vs. V. H.

Luster and Claud Luster; J. Enenbise vs. Frank and Sam Scantlin. Mrs. Lacock has a very beautiful cactus plant which is covered with at least 3 dozen large, red flowers very finely formed.

Probate Court. Ford Hovey made final settlement, as guardian in ten Indian cases from Horton reservation. The will of J. B. Shelton wras filed for probate April 18.

It shows the personal estate to be about $500 principally notes. John Stearns was appointed administrator. I). B. Royer made Trumanl settlement as administrator for Mnrtii.

Saimer, minor. Chas. Hand guardian of Isaac Hand insane wTas discharged owing to the death of the party. F. E.

Grnham made annual settlement of the estate of Geo. WheelerSaturdav. Adam Scbmitt made annual settlement of the estate of Michael Schmitt Saturday. Elmer Speare was adjudged insane on the 14 and was taken to the asylum at Topeka Saturday. Mariage Lionises.
